i don’t think people understand how much of life is grief. not just people dying, but losing the version of yourself you thought you’d become. grieving the city you had to leave. the friends you lost not in argument, but in silence. the summer that will never come back. the feeling that maybe you peaked at 12 when you were reading books under the covers and believing in forever
It's important to remember that "neurotypical" just means "still able to cope with society's demands and expectations well enough to avoid being psychiatrized". It doesn't refer to some idealized super human who doesn't have any problems, doesn't struggle with anything, never does anything weird and who thrives under the status quo.
Pretending you're fine when people cross your boundaries doesn't make you a really nice person, it just makes you a really shitty communicator. Far too many people pride themselves on being "too nice" when it's just that they have zero conflict resolution skills and will seethe in resentment for months instead of articulating the problem
if white women know one thing it's how to make a bathroom beach themed
why are teen girls this hysterically funny for no reason
i should only be charged a symbolic amount of 10 cents for my groceries because i have kind eyes and my intentions are pure
no artist can ever make anything as relatable as edward gorey drawing a shrewd little man looking out upon a barren ass landscape & the only caption he chose to describe this intensely bizarre scene is “hoo.”
I want to see the fall of LinkedIn during my lifetime
rust cohle does to me what i think manic pixie dream girls are supposed to do to men
rust cohle is The character that i’ve seen called a sociopath (in the shallow, “this is a flawed person who does things i don’t understand” prestige tv fan way) who obviously, like, cares the most. he forms his entire life in response to people. he’s in louisiana because of his daughter. he leaves louisiana because his relationship with marty and maggie is ruined. he spends his time away on fishing boats, marty’s hobby. he needs to save every child he can (or force himself to bear witness if he can’t) because he couldn’t do anything about his daughters death. he carves little visages of men out of empty beer cans while he’s talking. he loves humanity so much it eats at him. don’t know how people can get any other idea in their head, watching that show
all my life i thought matthew mcconaughey was just like idk some generic guy hollywood engineered in a lab for white moms to buy trashy magazines to masturbate with but then i watch true detective and now i need him carnally. he's got range is all i'm sayin.
marty: i can’t stop cheating on my wife bruh
rust subplot:
"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence
The guy is so fucked up that he looks like a edvard munch painting
like we could say this but on reverse on every other piece of media created ever, and i wouldnt even consider this show particulary female gaze so if incel men on the internet dont like fuck them
I was reading some reviews on Dune: Prophecy on imdb because I'm a bit baffled that the show is getting somewhat bashed. Yes, I'm loving it! And of course the problem seems to be that is to focused on women. I'm sorry if I'm getting the wrong impression but just read this gem of a comment from a user:
"It could have been great but they narrowed the focus to much around the bene geserat. It's OK but feels like they spent all there effort trying to come up with a plot line which meant that men would be props. Dune had interesting and powerful women but it also had strong male characters, this show really doesn't. It lacks the testosterone hormone which really the one that makes the world an interesting place.
The graphics and sets are very good, it's just dull, even the sex scenes have the women on top. The plot seems contrived in parts. All the women are hard on the eye, it's a bit like modern computer games in that regard."
I can't say WTF enough, but I had to snort when it came to sex scenes and oh noeeessssss women on top XD
I mean, I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea, and I do understand that the setting may feel weird. I'm a Dune book lover, and I do get why some aspects may feel itchy but overall my opinion is that it's very well done, very intriguing with complex characters and complex *female* characters yes. Is there, for any instance, a lack of sci-fi and fantasy focused on men? Please.
Takes me back to SW fanboys a few years ago complaining that all the movies have women as main characters now... I guess it will never change.
no but like we are so used to seeing media in which the cast consist on beautiful young female actresses and kind of old kind of regular looking men that is so refreshing to see it the other way around. And there is nothing wrong with actors not being super yound and attractive, the opposite, i would love to see more “normal” looking people on screen. But it is soo tyring that this standard is only put upon women, male actors have a career as long as they are talented but for women they must be both talented and also young and conventionally attractive, with very few exceptions. So yeah i dont mind to have one (1) show that reverts this.
i bet the casting director of dune prophecy is a het woman or likes men because all the male actors in this show are ridiculously attractive
the woman dies.
i loooveee the narrative of The chosen one gone wrong, they achieve what they where supposed to but in a twisted and doomed way
"love is what makes us human" actually it's 'select all images with boat' but go off I guess
