BOWYNN GODS: Tii

Tii  (Ty)  Spirits of ill nature, ill luck and destruction. These evil spirits were created by the god Mano, in his attempt to raise an army to war with his cousins Kord and Brand. These destructive spirits were counter-acted with the creation of the Kii by Brand and Kord, to protect mortals from the wrath of the Tii. While many were destroyed, they could not defeat all and spread throughout the world, bringing with them many of the ills of mankind.

     Tii, unlike Kii only come in one size. They are diminutive folk, much like popular fairies, with black bird with and black hair. Like their creator Mano, Tii are not called forward, invoked, worshipped or prayed to. They are destructive and if summoned will not do what they are asked to do but do as they wish. Tii are the manifested powers of all that is evil in the world. Instead, there are many rites and spells to ward these destructive Tii away.

BOWYNN GODS: TENNAR

Tennaer (Ten-Naer) Home of the gods of the sea. This was the home built by Tane for him, his beloved Kauldra and all the sea gods, after growing tired of travelling from Alaway to the sea every day. While no mortal can visit Tennaer, it has been seen by a rare few mortals, such as Allon. It is described as being in the shape of a giant spiral shell, much like and Auger. Inside it is very warm and dry, just as Alaway is. It is described with walls of wood, inlayed with abalone and pearls, depicting sea life and shells on the floor are laid in mosaic fashion. In the central court is a great hearth tended by Sannua Kii, Kii of the seas and oceans. There is said to be a grand stairway that leads up to sleeping quarters.  Despite the sounds of it, Tennar is not a watery domain. it is dry, warm and most comfortable.

BOWYNN GODS: TAYNON

Taynon (Tay-non)  Kii of the home, hearth and children. These are probably the most reveres of all the kii. They are invoked when a new home is built and over the door of the home is built a small shrine or shelf where images of the Taynon sit. In other cases they are cared in the frame of the door. They are diminutive in size and said to have bird wings. The Taynon protect the home from all that can befall it. They also are guardians of the family and guardians of children.

BOWYNN GODS: TARNA

Tarna with her sisters, Myliea, Quilla and Kora

Tarna  (Tar-nah)  Goddess of the summer season. She is the daughter of Morrighynn and Herne, sister of Kora, Myliea and Quilla and the consort to the god Saphon. Her name literally means "Summer."      Few tales are told of Tarna and her sisters as her role in nature keep her busy. She was born on the first day of summer. Tarna and her sisters were always bickering and contesting against each other over various things since their birth. Tarna contested with her sisters for which season they would rule over. In this contest Tarna created a field of sunflowers up from the ground. Tarna’s folks granted her the season of summer to govern over, judged by her gift. Thus, on the last day of Spring, Quilla departs the land, while Tarna appears on the first day of summer on a magnificent golden horse; bringing the greens and gold to the summer season and growing of sunflowers, marigolds and daisy.  The other sacred story tells of Tarna’s sacred marriage to Saphon, God of the South.

     Tarna is seen as a motherly female figure, refined with golden blond hair laced with a crown of ferns and sunflowers. She is clad in summer green colors and golden trim. Her hlad is of the same tones. Sometimes she is said to have a Daddalo [Stola] of golden yellows. In her hand is often seen a staff of Maple with ribbons wrapped on it of summer colors. Other times she is seen with a basket of summer flowers. Sometimes she is said to be winged with golden or yellow feathers. When about mortals she will take the image of a horse or a golden finch, her totem animals.

     Sacred gifts to Quilla are Milk, daisies and sunflowers, votive images of gold/yellow horses, sparrows, finch and of course incense. Most common gifts are wreathes and garlands of summer flowers.

BOWYNN GODS: TARM

Tarm  (Tarm)  Tarm is the Mammont [Mammoth] god of invention. Tarm and the other mammoth gods were created by Brea and her siblings, along with all animals and humans.

     In the early days when the Giants ruled the world, Tarm was the giant of the winds and winter season. He brought on this season to let the earth rest and fertilize itself. This he did with Brea, his mother. But when the younger gods took over and the brothers of the winds were born, Tarm stepped down from this role, even though Tarm will accompany the god Arn in the winter. Tarm however remained with the Akua because he was a most wise god and would create inventions for the gods and later, he spent the Seven Sacred days with the first tribes and creating items they would need to survive. These inventions were items like brooms, rakes, hand mills and many other items needed to get by every day. Tarm is also the bestower of wisdom to create and discover, so Tarm’s role as a god is still vital.

     Tarm is seen as an older god, grandfatherly, with wild long grey hair. His clothes are simple, earthly colored traveling robes and a wood staff in hand. In his totem form he is seen as a burly mammoth. All items are sacred and offered to Tarm.  Also gifted to Tarm is bowls of milk and woven fans, as well as votive images of mammoths.

BOWYNN GODS: TANE

Tane  (Taen)  God king of the sea, horses, shape-shifting and prophecy. He is the son of Brea and Unthar and the brother to Anthur and Chumash. His reign over the saltwater oceans and seas is powerful. Tane is also the great god with the power and grace of shapeshifting and scrying. As a god of scrying, he uses a great size pearl which he gazes in to see the world.

     As a child Tane always had a natural gift for the waters of the world. Thus his role as a god was determined right from his birth. But it was not till he contested with his brothers was his kingdom claimed; launching and arrow that landed in the sea. For the longest time Tane had ruled the oceans from the halls of Alaway so he could spend time with his family. But he was getting tired of the long treks to the sea and back, he chose to build his own home in the sea itself. It was formed in the shape of a great spiral shell. In the end he gave this great hall the name Tennaet and invited all the sea gods to reside there. After this test Tane fell in love with the goddess Cauldra. For Cauldra, Tane fashioned on most glorious of throne and crown of the sparkling of the sea. These he gifted Cauldra on the eve of their wedding. The second day Tane created horses for Cauldra so she could travel the seas and land equally. On the third day of their wedding, Tane formed a pair of hand maidens for Cauldra made from pearls.

     Tane is seen in his godly form as a fatherly figure with a beard and long blond hair, sometimes with white streaks and his eyes are sea blue. He is state to be a tall stately god, taller than his two brothers. His clothes are long and flowing with the colors of the sea. He is naturally crowned with gold and holds a staff of gold as well. In his totem form he is seen as a magnificent white horse. Sacred to take is images of horses, shells, fish and sea foods, sea plants, coral, pearls and abalone.

BOWYNN GODS: SUNII

Sunii  (Suen-eye)  Wind Kii that often accompany the wind gods. while not the true gods of the winds, they can be brewers of calm breezes or assist in the conjuring harsh winds. Most are human size and winged in description and like all Kii are numerous.

BOWYNN GODS: SUMON

Sumon  (Su-mon)  Sumon is the ancient and primordial god of all waters and the water element. He is the creation of Bia and one of the creators of mankind. Sumon is the consort of the goddess Phoenix. Through which they produced a lineage of other gods.

     In the creation of mankind, Brea, goddess of the earth, had tried to form mankind with earth from the ground. But the earth was dry and would not stay together. It was Sumon that added his gift of water to the dirt and made it moldable and gave mankind blood. It was also Sumon that filled the earth’s canyons and chasms with water, creating oceans, seas and rivers, thus dividing lands into continents.

     Sumon is seen as an older man of grandfather years, with a beard and long white wavy hair. His eyes are said to be a deep-sea green. In his godly form some have seen Summon in a simple himation wrapped about his body. Others however have seen him more fully dressed, in royal garments of blues and greens, embroidered in silver and jeweled with abalone and other seashells. In hand Sumon holds an ornate staff of silver laced with pearls, shell and turquoise. Sumon’s totem form is that of a great whale. Sacred to Sumon is sea and fresh-water fish, water, sea plants, pond plants and flowers like water lilies, and votive images of fish and sea life. 

BOWYNN GODS: SHELI

Sheli  (Shel-Lee)  Sheli is the Mammont [Mammoth] goddess of the plains, bravery, long courageous trips and expeditions and she is the patroness of hunters and bravery. Sheli is very much one of the more revered gods during the celebration of the Great Migration.

     Sheli did not play much of a role in the pantheon for a long time. For the most part she was looked at as the matriarch of the wandering tribes of mammoths, protecting them from dangers of hunters and predators. But it came to pass that the 13 great tribes crossed the Bosphorus into Europe utterly starved. While they had the protection and lead of the goddess Briathenaea, the people’s food stock was all but depleted. Brianthenaea asked Sheli for help. The goddess directed random herds of mammoths towards the tribes to be hunted. Thus, the tribes were saved again by divine intervention. It was at that point that the people revered Sheli as a goddess of travel and the guardians of plains and valleys where mammoths dwelt. In turn Sheli devoted herself a goddess of the hunt and protectors of hunters. 

     One of the great scared tales speak of the time when Sheli had issued a great warning to all the hunters of the tribes never to kill more than they needed. Especially when it came to the mammoths, for they were the guardians of the plains. Sadly, there came a point where her warning was forgotten and sure enough the mammoths were all but hunted off by greedy hunters. That’s when the great starvation of the tribes came. Sheli shunned the hunters and set them to survive on their own. It was the god Herne who prevented the starvation of mortals by sacrificing himself. Sheli saw that the people were grateful, and they brought her great gifts to repent. Sheli broke down and forgave the mortals and vowed to continue to guard and guide their hunts.

     Sheli is seen in tow forms. The first being a mammoth and the second in her immortal true form; that is a woman of years, with reddish and grey hair, clad in travelling clothes lined in fur and a fir cap. Scared to Sheli are votive images of mammoths and elephants, hunting weapons and all sorts of foods. Bundles of grain are offered to her in autumn as a special tribute.

BOWYNN GODS: SHAYLA

Shayla  (Shae-lah)  Shayla is the Bowynn goddess of the day and light. She is the creation of the Bia and her coming forth was the balance of Night and Darkness. She is the twin sister to Saul and sister to Daeth and Tora. Saul married his sister Shayl and their bore two daughters, Enya (Dawn) and Treya (Dusk). While Shayla is often seen with all the symbols and attributes of summer, she is a goddess of daytime year-round and is revered greatly in winter, when the days are shorter. Then again in summer, when days are longer

     While Shayla’s brother set out to defeat the cosmic lion that guarded Light, Shaya and her sister Tora where constantly bickering about bringing balance to the eternal darkness of heaven. This went on for generations, even after the earth was created. Finally, they consulted the great creator Bia. It was ruled that the two would hold a contest to see which element would rule over the other. The game was of dice. When the game to an end the two sisters were tied so Bia decreed that night, and day would be equal in length.

     Shayla is seen and depicted a glorious young woman glowing of radiant golden light. She is said to has a head of long golden hair and golden eyes, wearing a white dress. The pendant she wears holds the essence of the day. She crown is in the shape of a sunflower and her gown of silvery white. She is often seen with her twin brother Saul and their daughter Enya and in her hand a sunflower.

     Sunflowers are the most sacred symbol to Shayl and in summer her temples are greatly adorned with them. The goddess's totem animal is the canary and so votive images of canaries and yellow feathers are offered in abundance, as well is yellow and white candles.

BOWYNN GODS: SHANE

Shane  (Shaen)    Shane is the God of love, desire, passion and the love of family, friends the self. He is the son of Brenda and Dhonan and the brother of Onaur. Despite his attributes, Shane is not a filthy and aggressive god. His gifts are mostly classified as "Devoted Love."

Close friends pledge their love and devotion to Shane. Parents and their children would be bound by Shane. A wandering warrior and his dog would be bound by Shane. The idea of self -love of was instituted by Shane. The Love of a person for an image or item, is a product of Shane.

     Shane is seen much like his brother Onaur: a young god in simple garments, much like a page. He is sometimes seen winged like his brother and at times without. When not seen in his immortal form, he will take the form of a bird. So scared to Shane are votive images of birds.

BOWYNN GODS: Saulnat

Saulnat  (Sawl-nat)  God of the light in Daunnat, the next world. He is the son of Shayla and Saul, the god and goddess of Light and Day.

     When first created by the lord Chumash, Duannat was a very dark and foreboding place where the dead would go, much darker than the night. Thus it was a dismal place to be. He asked Saulnat, the son of Saul if he would be willing to bring his inherited light to Daunnat. In turn Chumash promised him the great feasts of Daunnat and his own home. Saulnat agreed to this and took a part of the essence of the sun with him to Daunnat. With the sun light now in Daunnat, light filled the land, crops grew and forests came into being, thus turning Daunnat into a much glorious place.

     Despite Saulnat’s great gift to Chumash, the souls of the dead and Daunnat itself, he is not a widely worshipped god. Only in the hymns chanted at a death is Saulnat spoken of, that his light never be extinguished and act as a beacon. But despite this, he is revered greatly as a bastion of hope for the living and the dead, a symbol of life eternal. Saulnat is seen as a much older man than his father; a man is his elder years with a man of white hair and a long white beard. Saulnatt us said to wear ling white robes and has a most decorative staff in hand that the light of Daunnat is contained in.

     Sacred to Saulnat is a simple white candle. No totem animals are associated with him. 

BOWYNN GODS: SAUL

Saul  (Sawl)  God of the light and day, born from the will of Bia. As such Saul is a god of the great creatrix along with his brothers and sisters.

     Before Saul, the universe was black and filled with darkness that his brother Daeth and sister Tora ruled over. Saul and his other sister Shayla were opposite of their siblings and grew tired of this eternal night and dark. Saul learned that Light was confined to a small place and guarded by a great celestial lion. Mustering up the bravery that his brother had before him Saul faced down the mighty beast and defeated it. He then unleashed the celestial light and thus the suns and stars were placed in the heavens. And at the same time the law of balance was instilled in the heavens.

     Saul is seen as a young male god of great glorious beauty and radiance. He is said to bare long blond hair and wear a simple light-colored robe, or even wander the heavens naked.  The only scared symbol to Saul is the Lion, which is said he walked the heavens with. Aside from incense, his only other sacred offering is images of golden lions.

BOWYNN GODS: SAPHON

Saphon  (Saf-fon)  God of the south and south wind. Saphon is the son of Herne and Morrighynn and the brother to Arn, Lyan and Ryan. As lord of the south, his home was what some may call “The Summerlands” but this is not the next world, more like deserts lands of the south..

     Saphon is one of four sons to Morrighynn and Herne. Like all his brothers, Saphon is winged with great golden majestic wings. It is Saphon who blows the hot winds of the summer and southlands. His wind turns leaves on the trees green and changes the hue of grass. Saphon is seen as a father-like figure with longish blond hair and beard and moustache, his eye color is that of either green or amber, depending who you talk to. His garments are of yellows, tans and gold. He is said to wear a wide brimmed leather hat on his head to shade himself from the summer heat and sun. Often he is seen on the first day of summer with his consort Tarna, Goddess of the summer season. It is said that of the four wind gods, Saphon is the second eldest after Arn. Some claim that they can see Saphon walking with a winged lion or cougar. Which would make sense as these animals are sun and heat related and is Saphon’s totem animal.      Sacred symbols to Saphon are summertime symbols like ferns, sun symbols and the hat he wears. Shrines to Saphon often have wind chimes hung in them as well as clear glass suns. Common gifts and offerings to Saphon are bowls of milk, fans, votive images of lions and incense.

BOWYNN GODS: SANNA

Sanna  (Sahn-nu-ah)  This race of Kii is much similar to the ancient Greek and Roman “Ichthyocentaur.” That is to say the fore part is human, the back end is of a dolphin and has the front legs of a horse. The Sanna are the kii that protects boats, ports, harbours, and men that depend on the sea as a livilyhood. Bowynn ports will have a Sanna sculpture facing outward as a protective ward.

BOWYNN GODS: RYAN

Ryan  (Ry-an)  Ryan is the Bowynn God of the west wind and the guardian god of all western lands (not Duannat, Land of the Dead.) Ryan's name means "west" in English.

     Ryan is one of four sons to Morrighynn and Herne. Like all his brothers, Ryan is seen winged with great black raven-like wings. It is Ryan who blows the cold winds of the autumn and western lands. His wind ripens the autumn fruit, turns leaves their autumn colors and changes the hue of grass to tan. He is seen as a young strapping man, with black hair and smooth of face, his eye color is that of cobalt blue, like the cleanest ocean. His garments are black in color. Often, he is seen on the first day of autumn (Tsakora) leading his wife Kora, Goddess of Autumn Season. It is said that of the four wind gods, Ryan is the most beautiful.

     Despite Ryans black clothing, he is not a god that looks fearful or a symbol of death. Point of fact, Ryan is a young and handsome man and one of the few handsome gods that many mortal women and goddesses fight over to be with. He is charming, strong and fun, as he is often said to bare a winning smile. Point of fact, Ryan, being married to Kora, becomes a harvest god; his western winds ripening foods to be harvested.

     Legend tells how it was Ryan that created the first crows and ravens as a gift to Kora on their wedding day to sing their wedding hymn, at the same time whipping up a western wind so that the trees would sing and laden the wedding procession with a shower of gold and other autumn hues. Often Ryan takes the shape of a crow or raven or other black bird. All these birds are sacred to him.

     Other sacred symbols to Ryan are autumn symbols like the leaves and harvested gourds. Shrines to Ryan often have wind chimes hung in them. Common gifts and offerings to Ryan are bowls of milk, fans, votive images of crows and incense.

BOWYNN GODS: RUNA

Runa  (Rew-nah)  The Runa are the Kii (spirits) of the woodlands, wood working and crafting in other suct articles like horn, antler and bone. They are kii of human size, so it is said and reside in the woodlands, either in trees or in hidden homes in the forest. Being woodland spirits, they are protectors of the trees, making sure that no harm befalls them till they are mature enough to harvest for crafting. Some of the Runa will follow a tree to the home of those that chop them down, to make sure they are treated well. There, they become spirits of wood crafting. A small band of devoted Runa are said to accompany the god Kalen, the god of wood working and architecture. 

BOWYNN GODS: RHYMAR

Rhymar  (Ry-mar)  God of the 6th Gate of Daunnat, of charity in the land of Daunnat.  Rhymar, like the other Gate guardians of Daunnat, is the child of Chumash and Kalma.

     A god of Daunnat, Rhymar is not an evil god, nor a god of judgment.  His role is that of a guardian of Daunnat. He is the giver of charity to spirits, as no spirit can enter Daunnat without this virtue. However, it is common for the living to call to Rhymar who are in need of eternal charity. In this way, Rhymar has a prominent role outside of Duannat as well. And sometimes he is seen with the goddess Hemwey, goddess of charity to those in need. In the presence in Daunnat, Rhymarr is the god that promises eternal riches but not always just money. He is the god that ensures “never wanting” in Daunnat. As god of the Gate of Charity, Rymar is one of the 7 gods of the sacred septagram. He sustains from visiting Alaway, instead preferring to live and feast with the spirits and other gods in Daunnat.

     Rhymar has no known totem animal, instead always staying in his godly form. He is seen as a young god dressed in a dark sur-coat with simple black trimming. He is said to have the bluest eyes, and his blond hair is the color of summer wheat. At times she is seen carrying a septagram tile and a horn which is blown when he allows a soul past her gate. Other times he holds a basket of wheat and coins mixed together, his gift of charity to the souls that pass by.

     Sacred to Rhymar is the Septagram and riding blow horn. During funeral services, a bowl of milk is left to him, as customary and a statuette of the departed, so the god will recognize the departed’s soul, which is identical to his body.

BOWYNN GODS: RHYA

Rhya  (Ry-ah)  Queen of the gods and goddess of women’s rituals and psychics in the Bowynn pantheon. She is the daughter of Phoenix and Sumon and the sister of Kalma and Kauldra. When it comes to all things of feminine arts and persuasion, Rhya is the goddess to look to. She is the goddess that initiates girls into the temples when they are of age.

      In many ways Rhya is much like her Mediterranean counterparts Juno and Minerva, in that she is the queen of the holy family. But that’s where the similarity ends. Rhya is a most loving and devoted wife but also a motherly goddess, not just to her own children but to all of the Akua. Thus, Rhya is a patron of not just queens but mothers.

     The most epic tale of Rhya is that of her being wooed by Anhur. The handsome young go fell in love almost instantly. As did Anhur’s brothers fall for Rhya’s sisters. But Rhya refused to be taken in by fancy talk and demanded that Anhur show how much he loved her. Anhur brought Rhya the most glorious gifts from all over the earth. But each one Rhya turned down. This continued for a long time till the god was exalted and there were no other gifts on earth to bring Rhya. Finally, Anhur simply pledged his love, truly and unconditionally. This what Rhya was waiting to hear the whole time, and she accepted his hand in marriage.

     Rhya is seen in her immortal form as a well-formed woman of a motherly look. She has raven black hair that is crowned and veiled, depicting his queenly statue. Her garments are of pure white and silver. Other times it is of a lavender color and accented in some manner with a votive image of a peacock. During times where her presence is seen at weddings ceremonies, she is accompanied by the god Dhonan. Together they sanctify the couple being wed. Being that her totem is a peacock, she will take this form when in the presence of mortals. Sacred to her is the crown, staff and votive image of a peacock or its feathers.

BOWYNN GODS: REYE

Reye  (Ray)  Reye is the Bowynn goddess of the hunt, the patron and guardian of wild animals and sacred groves. The name Reye is Bowynn for "rain" and thus she is also the goddess of gentle, life-giving, rain. She is the daughter of Amaetheon and Deanna and her consort is the bear god, Lomaun.

     The sacred stories of Reye are numerous, starting with her birth. Deanna gave birth to Reye while in the deep forest, which she was trying to convert to fertile farmland. But soon after the babe was born a fox dashed out and snatched baby Reye away. For months and years the gods hunted for the child and the fox. Eventually the immortal brothers Kord and Brand came to a small village in a forest and amongst the mortal villagers lived the, now child, Reye who was happily tending and talking to the domesticated farm animals and the fox that originally swiped her away. With a lot of persuasion, the brothers brought Reye back to the gardens of Alaway, where she was reunited with her parents. Her abilities and devotion to the wild and domestic animals granted her attributes to be their patron and protector. She was gifted a bow of yew by the god Herne and a mantle of fox hide by Myliea, the goddess of winter.

     Another sacred story describes Reye’s unconditional love for wild animals when she witnessed mortal hunters that struck down a cougar. Reye tried to comfort the animal, but the hunters drew close. She turned herself into a cougar to lead the hunters away. Once the slayers were lost deep in the woods, Reye returned to the dying cat and with her weeping tears saved the cougar from dying. (Artemis)

     One of the most beautiful of Reye’s scared tales is told in her creation of gentle rains. That’s she was so upset to see forests dying and sleeping each time it got too hot in summer. Lifting her face to the canopy of the forest she let out in song. The song lifted to the canopy and turned into rain. A rain that was able to nurture the forest and keep it from dying.

     While Reye is primarily a goddess that protects animals, she is also a protector of hunters as well; making sure they do not fall in traps or attacked by bears, cats and boars. She also makes sure a hunter hunts only enough to support his himself and his family. Reye condones sport hunters.

     Reye is seen as young woman or late in her teen years with traditional short blond hair and light-blue eyes. She is clad with a simple clothing of buckskin. In hand is often a bow and on her back a quiver of arrows. She is always seen with a fox at her side. Scared to Reye are reeds and cattails, hunting dogs, foxes and hooves animals such as the deer. In temples devoted to Reye, small trees are arranged in barrels about the floor to simulate the forest. A special offering to Reye is bowls and libations of rainwater, as well as life size votive images of foxes and deer.

BOWYNN GODS: QUILLA

Quilla  (Kwil-lah)  Goddess of the Spring season. She is the daughter of Morrighynn and Herne, sister of Kora, Myliea and Tarna and the consort to the god Lyan. Her name literally means "Spring."

     Few tales are told of Quilla and her sisters. She is the youngest of her sisters, born in the first day of spring. She and her sisters were always bickering and contesting against each other over various things since their birth. Quilla contested with her sisters for which season they would rule over. Quilla created colorful flowers up from the ground. This and because of her love for pastel colored clothing, her folks granted her the season of spring to govern over. Thus, on the first day of winter, Quilla's sister Myliea, goddess of the Winter, departs the land, while Quilla appears on the first day of spring on a magnificent roan-red horse; bringing the defrosting of the land, growing of the flowers and birthing of animals.  The other grand sacred story tells of Quilla’s sacred marriage to Lyan, god of the East.

     Quilla is seen as a young female figure refined with strawberry-blond hair laced with spring flowers. She is clad in pastel colors of green and pinks, with pastel color trim. Her hlad is of the same tones. Sometimes she is said to have a Daddalo [himation] or Stola of pastel yellows. In her hand is often seen a staff of willow with ribbons wrapped on it. Other times she is seen with a basket of spring flowers. Sometimes she is said to be winged with white feathers. When about mortals she will take the image of a horse or a sparrow, her totem animals.

     Sacred gifts to Quilla are Milk, Springtime flowers, votive images of red horses, sparrows, rabbits and of course incense. Most common gifts are wreathes of spring flowers.

BOWYNN GODS: QUATT

Quatt  (Kwhat)  God of the 5th gate of Daunnat, of faith, in the land of Daunnat.  Quatt like the other Gate guardians of Daunnat are the children of Chumash and Kalma.

     As with all the gods of Daunnat, Quatt is not an evil god, nor a god of judgment.  His role is that of a guardian of Daunnat. He is the bestower of faith to souls, as no spirit can enter Daunnat without this virtue. However it is common for the living to call to Quatt who are in need of eternal. As god of the Gate of Faith, Quatt is one of the 7 gods of the sacred septagram. He sustains from visiting Alaway, instead preferring to live and feast with the spirits and other gods in Daunnat.

     Quatt has no known totem animal, instead always staying in his godly form. He is seen as a young god dressed in a long sleeve purple tunic with simple white trimmings. At times she is seen carrying a septagram tile and a horn which is blown when she allows a soul past her gate. Other times he holds a staff of ivory. It is said by the god Brand, Pedjed bears short brown hair and earthly green eyes.

     Sacred to Quatt is the Septagram and riding blow horn. During funeral services, a bowl of milk is left to her, as customary and a statuette of the departed, so the god will recognize the departed’s soul, which is identical to his body.

BOWYNN GODS: PHOENIX

Phoenix  (Fee-niks)  In the Bowynn Tradition, Phoenix is the daughter created by Bia. Sister to Brea, Unthar, Summon. She is the very element of Fire and one of the great creatrix. Phoenix is the goddess of fire, volcanoes, earthquakes, flame, warmth of light and smoke. She is not just the destructive side of these attributes but the nurturing side as well. She warms people in the winter and from destruction comes life anew, She is the baker of pottery, melter of sand to make glass and metals, the heat and flame of the hearth.

     When the gods created mankind from earth, it was Phoenix that baked the clay that was used to form mankind, there-by not only giving mankind skin, but gave each one a heart of passion and love. And she assures us that from death, we are reborn again. Not because we are to learn life's lessons but to embrace all that life has to offer that is wonderful. She is one of the great 7 that form the symbolism of the septagram. During the time of the great 7 Sacred Days, Phoenix gave mankind the knowledge of fire, How to make it, contain it, how to avoid and respect it, how to tame it and use it for our advantage.

     Phoenix is seen as a motherly figure of deep red hair and dress. She bears a golden circlet on her head as well. Not a fearful figure but a warm embracing goddess. Other times she is seen as a great red phoenix bird. Sacred to Phoenix is images of phoenix birds and a candle flame. These are the most common gifts given to the goddess but any image of birds or fire is welcome to the goddess.

BOWYNN GODS: PHOENII

Phoenii  (Fee-ny)  the Phoenii are Kii (spirits) of domestic home fires, most of the time being of small fires, such as the flames of candles and lamps. These Kii are said to have the form of a tiny bird-like spirits but some can take the forms more of a larger phoenix bird. They reside in and around the hearth and ovens of the home or close to where candles are left. These diminutive spirits ensure safety and make sure candles burned bright but slowly and do not fall over. Other times they will reside by the hearth and be seen as the sparks that snap and rise up. All homes have a small shelf in the kitchen where small red paper images of the Phoenii or birds and left.

Pedjed  (Ped-jet)  (Sometimes "Pedjedd" and 'Pedjett') Goddess of the 7th Gate of Daunnat, of peace, in the land of Daunnat.  Pedjed like the other Gate guardians of Daunnat are the children of Chumash and Kalma.

BOWYNN GODS: PAUT

Paut  (Pawt)  Goddess of the element of Soul. She is one of the first creations of Bia and the brother of Brea and the other gods of the creatrix.

     At the beginning of time when the gods gathered together and formed mankind, the discovered that mankind walked about the earth aimlessly and all were exactly alike. Paut then instilled each person with a soul, which house and protected the spirit and gave each person a voice and personality, making them different and their own individuality. This was Paut’s great gift to mankind. Later, during the 7 Sacred Days, Paut stayed with the tribes and taught them how to understand their individual souls and how souls make up a part of ones being. Also, she taught mortals how to keep our souls and healthy and clean. When it comes to the Bowynn, we recognize the soul as a physical part of human anatomy. This is due to Paut’s teachings.

      Paut is one of the few of the Akua who spend little time with Mankind. She is too busy imbuing each human that is born with a soul in his private chamber in Alaway. But every once in a long while it is said he ventures out and checks on folks and making sure people souls are clean and being used wisely. He also takes time on Full-Moon ceremonies to help the goddess Morrighynn cleanse everyones soul.

     Paut is seen as a wise woman, with a long white hair. Her eyes are said to be so ice blue, to see past folks mortal husks to their soul. Paut is dressed in long robe and cloak. Over her robe he wears three large disks that represent the three elements the soul controls: Self, Mind and Action. Paut does not have a known totem animal; atleast not one that is known to us. Sacred to Paut is glass baubles and bull votive images. These as well as Incense are the customary gifts to Paut.

BOWYNN GODS: PANU

Panu (Pah-new)  Goddess of Gemcrafting. She is the daughter of Brea and Unthar and the sister of Vella. When it comes to gems, glass and lapidary work, no deity or mortal can compare. She is the goddess that creates fashions gems from the ground and bestows them with special magic powers that can be used in healing and metaphysical properties. She is the patroness of lapidaries and jewelers.

     Being a goddess with such gifts Panu often stayed in the halls of Alaway or walked the earth blessing the ground with her creations. But the sacred stories tell that one day she wandered a forest and came upon a grand hut of stonework with many chimneys. Curious, she walked inside and came upon the god Kalen hard at work carving gifts for the Akua and mortal man. Scared she hid and watched the god as he continued his work. Finally, she was spied by one of the giants that help out. Kalen turned and saw the goddess and fell instantly in love with her beauty. For days on end the two would meet at the hut. He would work in wood, and she would inlay the finish product with stones as she saw fit. When they stopped, they would kiss, and this would make the hearths blow 10 times as hot. After weeks of this passion, Kalen wed Panu in a most glorious wedding ceremony. Their wedding cart was created by their own hands of wood and gems. Together they still work along with Gondor and his bride Vella.

     Panu is a goddess described to be of raven black hair and eyes that change and glimmer like the gems she creates. Her clothes are said to be of simple make, being she is a god on crafts and earthly. The material is claimed to be of a purplish hue with green embroidery and edging. She is depicted as a young woman, matching with Kalen’s age range. She is one of the few goddesses that do not have a totem animal.

     Sacred to Panu are all gemstones, glass and lapidary tools; small hammers, files, chisels and such.

Bowynn Gods: Owenn

Owenn  (Oh-when)  Owenn is the Bowynn god of healing, good health, surgery, recovery, medicine and herbalism and all other skills and attributes of mortal health. He is the patron god of Doctors, nurses, surgeons and those of the healing and health care professions. This includes shamans, druids, witch doctors and medicine men.

     Owenn was raised amongst the first tribes in childhood where he learned why people got sick and died. He was not a god but very much mortal. Owenn was one of those of the Great migration. And upon reaching Europe and settling in, he taught the first tribes of people the arts of medicine and healing and was beloved by all for his gifts. Sadly, on his travels, Owenn encountered a great snake, he was bit by the poisonous vermin and it was that which killed him. His body was found and cared for where he had fallen and a shrine was built in his honor. And yet, instead of the custom of cremating the body, the people found they could not carry out the task. Instead, the people wrapped his body in the most glorious of clothes and placed his body in the inner shrine. For 7 long months everyone from every tribe came to mourn Owenn’s tomb. Moved by this, the gods held a special council and answered everyone’s prayers. By Chumash and Kalma, with their grace and blessings, Owenn was resurrected as a god on the 7th day of the seventh month after his fall. He emerged from the shrine as a god and one of the Akua. In this form he has continued to bless mortals with his talents and divine gifts of healings.

As a god and in time with the Akua, Owenn fell in love with a garden Kii and the couple had wed soon after. From their union, came forth three daughters who together were named "The Sisters." It is they who work with their father, Owenn, in his arts of healing. Not just for humans and the gods as well.

     As a god, Owenn is seen as a fully mature man, a father figure, with long teaming hair and thick beard. His head crowned with a copper circlet in the shape of a snake, symbolizing change from illness to health. Owenn’s demeanor is always gentle, never baring an ill word or hand to neither man nor animal. He is seen wearing a wayfarer’s robe of crimson and robes under that of various greens, representing the herbs he uses. His staff is wrapped with vines of herbs he uses in his healing brews. Often seen in his hand is a wood bowl which he makes medicine. In his totem form Owenn often appears in the form of a snake or frog, which is most sacred to him. Bowynn homes with altars and shrines to Owenn sometimes bare an image of a frog or snake with a coin in the mouth. Coins and herbs are the most divine of offers gifted to Owenn. Bowl bowls of herbs, clean water and incense are also the most common of gifts.

Bowynn Gods: Ortsall

Ortsal  (Or-tsal)  Ortsall is the God of the 3rd Gate of Daunnat and of eternal love and self love in the land of Daunnat.  Ortsal like the other gate guardians of Daunnat are the children of Chumash and Kalma. He is one of the older of the sacred seven gate keepers.

     As with all the gods of Daunnat, Ortsalt is not an evil god, nor a god of judgment.  His role is that of a guardian of Daunnat. He is the bestower of self love to spirits, as no spirit can enter Daunnat without this virtue. And he is also the god that units souls back together whe were in love and wed during their lifetime. However, it is common for the living to call to Ortsal who are suffering from the lack of love, but he is not the bestower of such love. These attributes are gifted from Brenda, Dhonnan, Shane and Onaur. As god of the Gate of Love, Odjett is one of the 7 gods of the sacred septagram. He sustains from visiting Alaway, instead preferring to live and feast with the spirits and other gods and souls in Daunnat.

     Ortsal has no known totem animal, instead always staying in his godly form. He is seen as a man black leather jerkin and purple tunic under that with silver trimmings. At times he is seen carrying a heptagram tile or a hunter’s horn, which is blown when he allows a soul past his gate. It is said by the god Brand, Ortsal bears long brown hair and something of a beard and moustache, giving him something of a fatherly look.

Bowynn Gods: Onaur

Onaur  (Oh-naur)  Winged god of love and passion. Onaur is a lot like his European counterparts Cupid and Eros only a bit older in years. He is the son of Brenda and Dhonan.

     Like his mother Brenda and father, Onaur is a god that cannot induce love on anyone. At first, he did try to do just that, when he was granted his godly station by Anhur. Onaur was so overjoyed by his godly gifts, he took his flute and played in the ears of mortals everywhere, making them fall in love with each other. But this caused much chaos and problems in the world. When word of this got to Brenda, she took away his flute and wings. Brenda then had to force him to undo all the false love he had spread. This taught the young god a lesson that would stick with him for the rest of his immortal life.  Despite the advances of many young girls, Onaur always stayed true stayed unbonded, so that he would not take sides.

     Unlike Onaur’s European counterparts, Onaur is an older god and not a cherub. He is often seen as a teenage buy. And unlike both his Greek and Roman counterparts, he is not winged. He is said to have blonde hair and the bluest of eyes. On his shoulder hangs a bag which he keeps his flute magical flute that he uses to project love. Some claim he also has a magic dust in his bag which induces lust instead of love. Onaur is said to take the disguise of a bird of his choosing, when he is around mortals. Unlike many of the gods of the Akua, Onaur was not one of the gods that sat with the first tribes, as he and his brother Shane were not born at the time. But now, Onaur and Shane spend much time among mortals to make up for his absence.        

     Sacred to Onaur is the flute and magickal herbal blends for love. Flowers like the carnation, lily and rose are just some of the flowers sacred to Onaur, as are their scents and votive images of birds also makes a most divine gift.
