“It's already scheduled actually,” they added, still grinning. "The exhibition opening's tonight, 7 pm, Sina Art Gallery."
Erwin quirked an eyebrow. “Got ahead of yourself again?”
“You don't understand!” Hange exclaimed. “He hasn’t shown a quarter of his talent yet!”
The editor-in-chief smirked at their eagerness. “Do you want Moblit to come with you or…”
“Don’t need an alarm clock on my ass," they replied in mock offense. "I can handle this myself, thank you very much!”
"What 'alarm clock'?" His tone was serious this time. "Is it a showcase or a petting party?"
Hange dashed out without an answer.

Brow furrowed behind thick lenses, worrying at their lower lip absentmindedly, Hange hammered at the keys as if their fingers couldn’t keep up with their thoughts.
They didn’t notice Moblit walking to his desk, balancing a stack of exhibition booklets in his arms.
They slammed back the typewriter carriage before typing the last few words of their review.
“You ok?” he asked with concern.
Hange finally raised their head and leaned back in their chair, stretching their sore arms above them with a sigh.
“Coffee's cold and need to pee,” they mumbled, “but at least I could meet the deadline!”

Eddie raised his glass.
“To Steve and the awesome flat he got us!”
Robin cheered.
Come on guys,” Steve mumbled, “I didn’t do anything, I just have a good credit score.”
Robin groaned.
“You called all the banks and found the best mortgage rate, you translated the contracts written in rich people lingo, you stopped Eddie from buying that crazy expensive guitar last year…”
“It wasn’t that exp…”
“YES IT WAS. Steve. Platonic love of my life. You are the savior of our finances and the only reason we were able to buy this place. Accept our thanks or else.”

The candles are not a surprise. Eddie is well aware of his boyfriend’s romantic side, and Steve would not skip the chance to organize a dinner by candlelight for his birthday.
Steve holding a guitar, however, is unusual.
It's not one of Eddie's. It's not one he is planning to buy either. Where does it even come from?
" Stevie, sweetheart, what are you doing?"
"You know how you always dedicate a song to me during your shows? Well, it’s my turn. This is your birthday and you deserve a serenade. So sit down Teddy, tonight you are my muse.”

The doctors had recommended exercising in water, and now Steve was there, swimming around in his pool, supervising Eddie. He didn’t want to leave him alone in the water, his heart heavy with the reminder of Barb’s demise.
It turned out the real menace was not the Upside-Down, but rather Eddie himself, who immediately decided to splash him.
Steve jumped back to escape, before retaliating, making the boy splutter and shake his head like a drenched dog.
Steve wasn’t sure it was what the doctors had in mind, but he hadn’t enjoyed playing in his pool like that in years.
I am laaaate. But who cares.

“So.” Steve took a step back, taking in the sigh before him. “NASA.”
Clad in his graduation clothes, Dustin beamed.
“Yes! The interview is next Tuesday. There is no guarantee, but I think I have my chances.
“You're planning on flying a spaceship to the stars one day, Henderson?
Dustin gave him his most judgmental stare. “They're balls of fire, Steve.”
“That's not what I was…”
“You can't land on them. You’ll burn down long before reaching the 'surface.'”
“I mean…”
“I’m going to fly a spaceship to Mars, Steve. Because it's a planet. And you can land on those.”

“You should really take your vest off, Eddie,” Robin said. “You’re going to cook in it.”
“I’m allergic to tanning, Birdie.”
A few feet away, Dustin jumped into the pool, splashing everyone.
“HENDERSON! Come back here! You need sunscreen!”
Lucas tried to follow Dustin, but Steve was faster.
“Not you too!” he started to rub lotion on the squirmy teen. “No one gets sunburn on my watch.”
Eddie froze.
Then his shirt and vest were off.
“Stevie, can you help me put lotion on my back?”
“Yeah, of course.”
“You’re blushing,” Robin whispered.
“Shut up. It’s the sun. I'm burning.”

Robin watched Vickie leave Family Video, trying to calm her racing heart.
“Jesus, she’s like, totally into you.”
She jumped. Steve was watching her from the Sci-Fi section, a stack of movies in hand.
“You should ask her out.”
“Are you insane? I can’t tell Vickie I like girls, Steve.”
“You don’t have to.” He winked. “Just show her your boobies shoes.”
She blinked.
“Wrong shelf Dingus.”
“What?” He looked at his hands. “No? Alien is Sci-Fi?”
Not the movie, you.” Robin pushed him toward the other side of the store. “This is where clowns belong. In the comedy section.”

Robin shivered. It was October, and nights in Hawkins were always cold at this time of the year.
Beside her, Steve started to take his sweater off.
“I’m cold, too.”
Robin leaned behind her best friend to glare at Eddie. The fucker smiled tauntingly.
Steve stood up without a word and went inside.
“That’s my best friend, Munson.”
“Well, too bad, that’s my boyfriend.”
“I was there first, I’ve got dibs on his sweaters, and…”
Her voice cut with a squeak, as a pile of blankets fell on them.
“Great,” Steve said. “Nobody’s cold anymore. Are you two done, now?”
