I’m making a Bsd RP server and I ain’t got no one yet😭
It’s just a fun server that anyone can join sooo
This is also my first time making a discord server
first one was done in spanish, the second was done in math.
edit: i just realized this was my first drawing of 2025! happy new year!
why do some (not all) bsd fans hate the female characters so much? i don’t get it. like, everybody hates teruko for just DOING HER JOB because she was fighting sigma. then people say, ‘oh, i don’t like her because her childish personality is annoying not because she’s a woman just TRYING TO DO HER JOB’ and then their favorite character is ranpo. or, people will hate a female character because she ‘gets in the way of their favorite ship’. if you haven’t seen this before i’m happy for you, but an example is ‘lucy gets in the way of sskk!!’ seriously? like, seriously? that is so fucking stupid. (saying this as a sskk/taniatsu shipper) just ship whatever you want and let that character exist. and to those who deny this, if lucy was a man and akutagawa was a woman you’d hate akutagawa because she ‘gets in the way of atsulucy’ there’s also the ‘oh, her only personality is liking a man!!’ when we were first introduced to katai his only personality trait was liking a woman and the fandom still loved him. i don’t like that in any character, but i’m willing to put up with it if the author fleshes out the character’s personality later. i absolutely despise the way this fandom treats female characters, yeah, some of their writing isn’t the best but they’re still necessary to the plot. this has been lou. i’m sorry for all the rants i’ve been doing recently, but i’m pissed about a lot of things. thank you for coming to my ted talk.
Disclaimer: This is my first time translating and I don't really know japanese so there can be some translation mistakes but I was really pissed that there was no eng translation for this chapter so i just decided to do it myself. I used hundreds of different translators to get this as accurate as possible (don't ask how much time it took me😀) but anyway here it is. Pls don't cancel me😭 p.s. eng is not my first language so there can be some mistakes
Hunting dogs acting goofy (let's just pretend that the latest chapters didn't happen😭)
god pls take away all their sufferings triple it and give it to fyodor🙏🙏
pls pls no teruko😭😭😭 come back queen the world needs you😭😭
COME BACK!!😭😭
and heres a silly little doodle on the side lol :333333
And then Verlaine find Atsushi in a random alley and decides to adopt him too
Hear me out: Verlaine and Rimbaud living happily in a ranch house in the French countryside with Chuuya who they adopted (read: stole). They live happily away from the control of any of their governments who want to use them.
And then a few years later, a group of kids, two of whom are currently younger than Chuuya, show up at their door asking for a place to stay for the night.
Verlaine does some digging and convinces Rimbaud to take them in.
And now Verlaine, who claims to be so far detached from humanity, is raising a bunch of kids.
Just like cute domestic moments with them too.
Teruko aging Chuuya up and him not getting any taller and getting upset
Tachihara tripping and scratching his nose and Verlaine cleans it and puts a bandaid on
Rimbaud using his ability when Jouno gets overwhelmed by things like thunderstorms
Tecchou eating his silly food combos and Verlaine, assuming this is normal people diet, joining in
They’re very careful about keeping them hidden because Rimbaud is worried the Japanese government will look for them (Verlaine and Chuuya both claim they would kick their asses causing Rimbaud to roll his eyes and kiss Verlaine and Chuuya to gag)
But eventually as time goes by, they calm down a bit
So we get Verlaine, Rimbaud, and their small army of government science projects at the amusement park and doing happy family activities and things like that

[So a large portion of this is left over from when I was revising sociology for my alevels, which were done over a month ago now (wow). So I hope there's people out there who find this interesting, it's nice to post this since it goes back to my roots of what started me on tumblr in the first place (sociological analysis, but of MTP). Also this has Stormbringer spoilers.]
Sociologists agree that childhood is a social construct (a concept in society with no fixed definition). The definition of childhood changes depending on culture and time, so it is not universal or 'natural'. Bungo Stray Dogs portrays a definition of childhood much different to many of our own cultures, and part of its presentation is something I want to look into.
The main idea to look at is Jane Pilcher's idea of 'separateness' - childhood as a clear and distinct stage of life in which children are considered physically and psychologically incompetent and unable to run their own lives. This idea of separateness often leads to childhood being considered a 'golden age' of play and having a lack of responsibility. In BSD, the idea of childhood as a separate stage is not as clear - many children 16 or under are seen working in (or looking for) employment much like adults would do. For example, in Stormbringer Shirase (who is 16) works in a car factory, Yosano at age 11 is said to work in a confectionery store (we don't know if this was family owned or not though), and Ranpo in Untold Origins (aged 14) looking for a job when he meets Fukuzawa. With this information we can gather that children have to take the responsibility of work from a younger age than many cultures (for instance where I lived children have to be in education until 18) and that from as young as 11 they are able to employment.
Consider the other children present - the Akutagawa siblings living on the streets for many years without parents or financial support, Kyouka and Q (as well as teenagers like Dazai and Chuuya) being part of the mafia from a young age, Kenji in his village, Chuuya and Mary Wollstonecraft in Stormbringer, and Atsushi living in the orphanage. All of these have different notions of childhood attached to them.
The Akutagawa siblings learnt to support themselves from a young age. Their group of fellow homeless children act as proof of a wide child poverty issue, one which represent the effects of a lack of child welfare support by the government or the effects of the many casualties in the Great War (leaving many without parents). The lack of child welfare support may show a general lack of the idea of separateness, since specialist support for children is not available.
The abundance of children in the mafia, especially those who reach the higher ranks of executives like Dazai and Chuuya by the age of 16, show a distinct lack of recognition of childhood as a separate stage. Those who are children don't seem to be treated much differently to the adults, which is especially apparent in Q and Kyouka's missions (where Kyouka in her first mission we see being considered disposable by the mafia).
Kenji's childhood on paper seems the closest to many farming cultures in our world. He works on a farm from a young age, as many people in his village and in real life farming families do. The recruitment of him to the detective agency however, suggests that (despite his youth) his ability makes him fit for the job. This somewhat leads on to the idea that children with abilities are seen as more mature and subjected to more adult activities and topics from a younger age, with their allowance of separateness smaller than that of non-ability user children.
A few other Stormbringer examples - Mary Wollstonecraft is only 10 years old as of Stormbringer, and yet she is working for the European governments and making robot agents for them. Young children working for governments is a clear example of a lack of separation between child and adult. Another, and arguably much worse example, is Chuuya and Verlaine - both experimented on by scientists/the government and infused with singularities via force. Chuuya is also canonically cloned. Verlaine and Chuuya, in their experimentation, are not treated much differently, despite Verlaine being an adult and Chuuya being around 5 at the time of his kidnapping/start of experimentation. This suggests a lack of seperateness yet again. There is a lot more that could be said about the whole 'cloning/made into a weapon' part of their story, but this is not the post for that.
A more recent one - Teruko. Because of her unique ability to change her age means that within the first few months of her life she was forced to fight in war. She's actually forced to bypass her own childhood for the war effort, and therefore her childlike demeanour during the Decay of Angels arc may be to try and harness what she missed out on. Her ability in itself could also play into the 'old age is a social construct' argument too maybe but again, not the post.
Atsushi's childhood in an orphanage at first seems to match the ideas of childhood as a separate stage dependent on others. The purpose of orphanages is to raise children without parents and help them prepare for the world, but Atsushi's experiences of abuse shows that his ability, to the orphanage director, makes him undeserving of this separate stage. Instead he is abused and eventually kicked out with no real support. This being able to go on unchecked alongside the other examples brings me to my conclusion about the definition of childhood in Yokohama/the surrrounding villages/possibly the world are not being considered a separate 'golden age' to the same standards as our world.
As mentioned earlier, children who are ability users are less likely to have this construct of seperateness include them. In sociology, labels and constructs are assigned by people and society, and so in this universe there are many adults who have removed this construct from ability users' lives in their childhood. Yosano is the clearest example of this - Mori takes her away from her experience of childhood and places her in a war zone, where she, despite being 11 years of age, is treated like an adult and (because of her ability) is placed on a pedestal by the solders. She's stripped of her childhood through not only the standards placed upon her, but the trauma she endures in the war zone - leaving her to spend what remained of her childhood in a psych ward until Fukuzawa is able to take her in.
Ability user children, via circumstances or adult intervention, do not get to experience childhood in the way other children do because that label is stripped away from them. This is most usually because they pose some asset to an organisation or campaign - and this can include the ADA too. Just because the ADA offers a more healthy and safer environment for the children than other organisations, it is still putting children into work and treating them the same as adults. How ethical this is, is in itself another question that I don't think I can give an answer to. But I could honestly talk about how ability user children are treated differently in a whole other essay.
[I do not have much else to say now about this specific area but it's probably better to post than just to let sit in the drafts as it has done for a while. So no proper conclusion sorry.]
This post made me realize that Fukuchi is the dad you go to when Fukuzawa says no.
So you’re telling me Fukuchi genuinely rolled up with a 6 year old military vet, a 13 year old thief, a blind criminal mastermind, and Tecchou, who is Tecchou, and just asked to have a super powered military unit? And they said yes???
(PS: really sorry if any other got left out, I was writing these on top of my head so I don't know if there's more. Feel free to comment if you know any other siblings/sibling-ish dynamic I left out!)
Is it ever confirmed in canon why Teruko is a child or is it for like . . . the obvious, logical reasons why every woman would want to stay in the prepubescent stage when fighting (i.e. no boobs or periods)?
I hate that that was the first thing I thought when I saw that Atsushi panel
Since Teruko's story was revealed, I've seen some people saying that she wasn't twelve years old in the present day, but in the Great War, and since that was my first impression when I read the chapter, I wanted to talk a little bit about why this wouldn't make sense if we take into account the timeline that had already been established by the manga up to that point.
Because of Yosano's backstory, we know that the Great War began fourteen years before the current timeline, assuming that Mori recruited Yosano at the beginning of the conflict. (It's said that she was eleven years old when she entered the war, and as she is currently twenty-five years old, it is safe to assume that the war began, at least, fourteen years ago. Mori's age also agrees with this assumption.)
Back to Teruko's backstory, we are told that she started fighting in the war in her first months of life, as her ability meant that she could mature her body and mind, so she was already considered fit to be a soldier even though he was literally a baby. Just like Yosano, it's never stated that she was there from the beginning, and the chapter itself refutes this later, somewhat.
At the beginning of her flashback, the narrator talks about how Teruko's only childish characteristic is her appearance, which imply the idea that she is an adult today, and even the speech that she is only twelve years old, that she really is a child, can also be ambiguous as the scene changes to show Teruko during the war, giving the idea that during the war she had a childlike appearance because she was a child, but that now she uses that form for convenience, or any other unspecified reason.
However, if we consider everything we know about the war and when it occurred, it's possible to see that Teruko couldn't have served in the army while she was only a few months old and be over fourteen/fifteen years old, and we also know that the the war didn't last long enough for Teruko to have joined it when she was a few months old, and be twelve years old when it ended, at least according to what was shown in the manga.
Of course, she could be thirteen, fourteen, or fifteen, but the manga itself states that she is twelve, despite her ability being able to change her physical and mental age, so I see no reason to believe she isn't that age.
Also, the fact that she is twelve now only adds to the tragedy. She is a child who has only known war all her life and who died (as far as we know) to avenge the person who saved her life when she was just a few months old and had already seen people dying, already had to kill enemy soldiers, and was almost killed by them. It was supposed to be something sad, her life was destined to be a fight until the end, and not by her choice, because she had no choice to be here, to begin with.
I'm so sorry Tachihara for ruining your epic reveal moment but as soon as Jouno put the cape on you and it started to swish in the non-existent wind I knew what I had to do
This is their equivalent of t-posing at their enemies btw.
(Text:
Tachihara: "Yes, it is I. The fifth Hunting Dog."
Fukuchi: "It's him!")
They gotta support the baby of the group
HAHAHAHHAHAH
If the Sky Casino arc went a little differently
Even if you think Teruko is 20+, it's still disgusting to ship her with ppl btw!
Her
(It’s her birthday btw :0)
Happy birthday Teruko!!!!!!!!!
Realized that me not being able to draw doesn't mean there has to be a drought on my blog and I have the #vip-yaps tag for a reason!!
(Also here's a list of characters I didn't include bc I don't care/know enough about them to think abt this for them: Kajii, Karma, Ace, Katai, Ivan, Agatha Christie, all extra SB characters, all extra Gaiden characters. If I didn't include anyone else arguably significant, assume cishetness)
Atsushi
Bisexual mess bc that is fandom consensus and I agree. Cis man.
Dazai
If Atsushi is a bi mess, Dazai is a bi house fire. Also he's demiromantic I think the idea of him being very flirty but actually rarely feeling genuine romantic attraction is an interesting parallel to how outwardly he's just a silly dramatic goober but deep down he's kind of emotionally numb.
Also for me his gender is in this weird spsce of like, I can see him being pretty much any gender. For simpleness I tend to just interpret him as a cis man but I do also really like genderfluid and bigender dazai.
Kunikida
I think he's aroace, leaning to the repulsed/dislike end of the spectrum for both. He's probably well read on queer theory and is aware of the aroace spectrum and he knows a lot of labels (he loves leanring all the hyperspecific labels and terms and shi) but also he's probably had the very amatonormative ideal of like, marrying someone and having a nice little family for a long time so he's still in denial kind of. Also cis man.
Building off these hcs I really like Kunikidazai as a qpr they give me qpr energy
Ranpo
Gay gay homosexual gay /ref. Probably is unlabelled cause he doesnt rlly gaf but he's just homosexual. Also demisexual and demiromantic. And a cis man.
Yosano
Contrary to popular belief, I do not think she's lesbian. But I do think she's primarily a woman enjoyer so bisexual homoromantic. Cis woman.
Junichiro
Transss mann I saw one person say his undershirt looks like a binder and I was SOLD. Also icl he seems straight to me 😔
Naomi
Another bisexual LMAO what can I say, they're everywhere. Also I lean towards afab demigirl (she/they) but I do like mtf Naomi.
Kyouka
Getting big non-binary energy from this one, maybe genderfae? (All non-masc pronouns and neos(snow/snowself/bun/bunself). Bun is also aceflux and generally under the bisexual umbrella.
Kenji
Whats gender? Can he eat it? Lowk gives me gender apathetic vibes but I hc him as cis. Also he's pansexual, indiscriminate attraction on all levels.
Fukuzawa
Heteroflexible (bisexual with preference for opposite gender) and cis.
Chuuya
Bisexual, I can see him being gay but also him and Dazai give me so much bi4bi energy. Also I think he's a cis man but I do love t4t soukoku.
Akutagawa
Gayyy I cannot see him being attracted to a woman/fem-leaning in any universe. Idc if its cause he's aroace or just gay he has never felt a fem's touch and he'd like to keep it that way please and thank you.
Also I this he's cis, he's quite androgynous but i feel like its less bc of genderqueerness and more bc he's in an alternative culture (goth).
Tachihara
Gynesexual (attraction to feminity). When he was still identifiying as straight he cracked a joke abt femboys and it led to a mild crisis and amusing realization. He identifies as bisexual now.
Higuchi
Androsexual (attraction to masculinity). Her and tachihara are on two sides of the same coin, especially when it comes to Gin. Higuchi and Tachihara have a mild crush on Gin, but are both especially attracted to specifically her work and civilian persona respectively.)
Gin
Speaking of Gin, I actually think she's a cis woman, if only because its amusing; Akutagawa's siblings, cis folks serving androgynous gender envy since 2012. Also she's panromantic sex neutral asexual
Mori
Aroace, because I love the idea of someone who wants to be a parent sooooo badly but really couldn't give a flying fuck about any of the stuff that people tend to expect precede having children. He wishes he could grow a baby with his genes in a lab or something because he doesn't hate anyone enough to allow them to get involved with him like that. Also he's sex neutral, little to no romantic attraction at all and a cis man.
Koyou
Again, not lesbian surprisingly, but mostly because she canonically loved that guy in her backstory. I think she's biromantic homosexual. Also cis woman again but I can see her being transfem
Q
No particular sexuality headcannon, probably queer or aroacespec. Also definitely non-binary, or agender or something they have no gender in my head its never he or she its always 'they'. I also think they might use neos (void/voidself/stitch/stitchself/and others I'm not going to take the time to think of and type out).
Oda
Pansexual cis man
Fyodor
Guys gender apathetic Fyodor is so important to me I need you to understand (/lh). Like, he identifies as a cis man but he actually really doesn't give a shit. Bro hasn't realized that cis men identify as men because it genuinely feel right and not because it just happened to be the gender they were assigned at birth and they 'don't particularly mind it'. If you called him anything other than (he/him) he'd look at you funny but not bc it actually makes him uncomfortable more out of like confusion like "I look like a man right? How strange that that person does not think that I am a man."
Also he's aroacespec for sure in all my headcannons, but for canon compliance I lean towards no romantic attraction type aromantic, and aceflux/sex neutral asexual. Also gay. What little attraction he may experience is always homo imo.
If you asked him what he identifies as he'd say "A servant of the Lord."
Nikolai
When I didn't care about his character as much I always just defaulted to cis man but ngl I like him being genderfaun or gender apathetic or agender or something. Maybe leaning towards agender/gender apathetic cause he probably doesn't really gaf what pronouns are used for him. I think he'd like neopronouns a lot though because the idea is that they identify someone based on them as a specific individual rather than their gender and I think he'd like that.
Also aroacespec again lol but again its flexible I hc him as allo in some AUs. But in the BSD og universe I definitely hc him as specifically grayromantic and sex positive asexual. I think he struggles to tell the difference between romantic and platonic attraction (not helped by the fact he has little experience in either). He thinks he's straight up aroace and delights in the idea that he is 'free' from attraction.
Sigma
Love me some intersex non-binary Sigma (they/them) . Also I specifically hc their physicality and voice is more masculine even though they present pretty androgynously bc I don't often see rep amab enby people who still present relatively masc.
I think they're acespec, either demisexual or sex neutral with no actual attraction. Also homoromantic homosexual.
Fukuchi
Wasn't quite sure whether I ought to put him in DoA or the Hunting Dogs but uh yeah I think think he's biromantic asexual. sex-repulsed too, I think he's not labelled he's just always found the idea of sex off-putting. Also cis man.
Jouno
Aromantic bisexual, masc pref. He's openly bisexual and I feel like he's always known he doesn't experience romantic attraction, and trying to force himself to pretend he does, either as an attempt to achieve deeper connection or to get 'suffering' from leading someone (not worth the effort in his experience btw) on has left a bad taste in his mouth regarding romance. Also cis man again.
Tecchou
Bisexual cis man
Teruko
Fem lesbian spotted. Comphet final boss, pioneer of the straight > bisexual > lesbian pipeline. Also gives me regina george hyperfem type energy. (Cis woman also)
Poe
Homoromantic sex neutral asexual. Also I don't feel strongly abt any gender hcs for him but I do like the idea of ftm Poe/
Louisa
Asexual femme lesbian, clocked it day one. To dispute me over this would be futile (/j).
Lucy
Heteroromantic bisexual cis woman.
Mark
That's a bisexual umbrella man if I've ever seen one. Maybe pan? Also again I don't feel strongly abt any gender hcs for him but I like the idea of him being trans bc he'll just have his top surgery scars out all the time and that's very coolio
Lovecraft
Aroace, not even sure if he has the neurobiological capacity to experience attraction like that. His gender is...its there? Maybe? He probably prefers just being referred to by his name but he really doesn't have it in him to think about this stuff.
Ango
Aroflux homosexual. I love romantic Odango as much as the next person but qpr Odango is also ouhhhhhhh. Also cis man
Mushitaro
Sex-repulsed asexual homoromantic
