Hear me out. What if MCU Sam had actual wings. Like he gets them in a freak accident and he kinda hates them because he sees himself as a freak. Then Bucky finds out.
Bucky has always loved Sam and that doesn’t change at all when he sees Sam’s wings. Sam thinks it will, that Bucky will see him as a monster but if anything Bucky loves him more. He thinks he’s gorgeous and now his nickname Angel makes sense.
Sam slowly feels better about himself and even goes as far as letting Bucky touch his wings and groom him. It does take awhile for Sam to go back on missions but to the people that matter to him, like Sarah, Joaquin, and Isaiah, they all still love him.
Also if Bucky is with Sam and someone calls Sam a monster, he pulls out his arm and basically gives them the Winter Soldier glare.
