“most of all, i hate you because i think of you. often. it's disgusting and i can't stop.”

I read 50+ books this year and decided to share a short review for some of them with the dwellers of tumblr. First up: Padawan by Kiersten White.
I knew two things when I chose to read this book:
I love Obi-Wan
I love young Obi-Wan even more
I expected something like Master and Apprentice by Claudia Gray - and I did get that and even some more! I loved the way White goes into Obi-Wan deeper thoughts and struggles about his place in the Order, with Qui-Gon or even his relationship with the force.
There isn't much "war" in the stars this time, but the planet and world that White creates are interesting, captivating. The characters are fun, the mystery in the book is also well-written. And I did get to know young Obi-Wan Kenobi some more, adding more layers to his personality.
The most surprising thing for me was definitely the way this book helped my mental health and helped me understand my own struggles a bit better. It also gave me a new perspective on my relationship with myself. If I can see how brilliant this young padawan is going to become and how wonderful and caring he is, why can't I see it in myself? And why can I relate and forgive him for his struggles and yet blame myself for the ones that I face? It gave me much to think about for sure.
Who would I recommend this book to?
Anyone who loves Obi-Wan Kenobi, duh.
People who love smaller stakes in their books with an interesting set of characters with complex personalities and problems.
Those who always want *more* content from before the Phantom Menace and those who enjoyed Master and Apprentice
I rated the book: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
