paul's weird obsession with buses is funny until i remember that the first time he saw john and the first time he talked to george were both on a bus. two people that he loved and built his whole life and career around were found on a bus. and then it makes sense that whenever interviewers would ask them all what they miss about their pre-beatle lives, he would say riding the bus. it makes sense that after brian died, he felt like everything he loved was slipping through his fingers so he decided to direct a movie about a bus.
