actually re joking about being ‘the piracy friend’. do yourself a favour and stop relying on tumblr masterlists that are full of broken links and dodgy websites and just bookmark r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH’s piracy wiki (backup).

it’s the most comprehensive resource i’ve ever encountered my life and it’s also got so much extra stuff like decent free vpns/antivirus/adblock, a massive list of free software for almost every purpose you can think of, AND a list of custom search engines that mean you can search every site at once or you’re looking for something more obscure (this is how i seem to always have a link to literally anything)

there’s also this rentry, which i can vouch for less because i don’t use it so much but does have info on installing cracked versions of the more popular antivirus programs if you don’t want to pay but also don’t want to trust the free options lol

Lesbians! I come bearing gifts!

I have precisely 3 followers on here, but….

This is a link to a Google Drive containing a range of lesbian literature and essays which I’ve compiled:

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18i1j2AhJkNBnBJeSqzj-6v_KXOY1-G0T?usp=sharing

Please be patient while waiting for admission and if possible, do leave feedback using the short form inside the file as it would help me a lot. If you want to leave requests or ask for recommendations you can also do that with the form and I’ll try my best.

I don’t use any other social media apart from Tumblr and Reddit so please feel free to share the link around. Love you all <3

Warning: generalizations are used liberally below. Mentally preface all statements with in general and dont yell at me. For purposes of definition, standard is meant only in terms of familiarity and the intent of the distinction is solely to indicate something a reader…

Haha, so I’ve been saying I’m going to write something like this forever, and then yesterday my housemate found that someone beat me to it.

Required reading, friends! So you don’t screw it up if you’re writing fanfic – and so you can suffer along with me if you’re reading it.

My contribution to the smut talk behind the cut. XD (And also one of my Craig-writing friend’s finest moments.) So strap in for –

Okay I’m currently furious that migraines are often so blindly easy to treat and I had to find this out myself at the age of 26 when I’ve been to a neurologist since I was 11 lol so I’m about to teach you two neat and fast little tricks to deal with pain!

The first is the sternocleidomastoid muscle, or the SCM muscle.

Okay I’m Currently Furious That Migraines Are Often So Blindly Easy To Treat And I Had To Find This

This big red section is responsible for pain around the eye, cheekbone, and jaw, as well as some temple pain. Literally all you have to do is angle your head down a little, angle it away from the side that hurts, and then you can gently pinch and rub that muscle. I find it best to start at the bottom and travel upwards. The relief is so immediate! You can increase pressure as you feel comfortable doing so.

Here is a short and easy video showing this in action

The second is a fast and easy stretch that soothes your vagus nerve, which is the nerve responsible for calming you down. The vagus nerve, for those unfamiliar, is stimulated by deep breathing such as yawning, sighing, singing, or taking a deep breath to calm your anger in a tense situation.

You can stretch this out by sitting up as straight as possible (this does not have to be perfect to work) and interlacing your fingers. Put your hands on the back of your head with your thumbs going down the sides of your neck and, while keeping your face forward, look all the way to one side with just your eyes. Hold that until you feel the urge to breathe deeply or yawn, or until you can tell there’s a change. Then do the same thing on the other side. When you put your arms down, you should clearly be able to turn your head farther in both directions. If the first session doesn’t get rid of your migraine, rest and repeat as many times as necessary. I even get a little fancy with it and roll my eyes up and down along the outer edge sometimes to stretch as much as I can.

If you need a visual here’s a good video on it. I know some of the language they use seems questionable but this is real and simple science and should not be discarded because it’s been adopted by the trendy wellness crowd!

I seriously cannot believe I didn’t hear a word of this from any doctor in my life. Additionally, if you get frequent recurring migraines, you may want to see a dietician. Migraines can be caused by foods containing histamines, lectin, etc. and can also be caused by high blood pressure in specific situations such as exercise, stress, and even sex.

If any of this information helps you I’d love to hear it btw! It’s so so fast and easy to do. Good luck!

actually im just gonna make my own post about it: please read more webcomics. please try them. every time people make posts about “aw man i wish SOMEone would WRITE about FLAVOR OF QUEER THING/TRAUMA OR ABUSE BUT IN SPECIFIC WAYS I CAN RELATE TO/WHATEVER” and then it gets reblogged into a giant thread of people agreeing with it and demanding Content i die because whatever it is is definitely being painstakingly created by an indie author who would really like for people to consume it and every time i point this out people suddenly can’t read lmao

it is out there it is free it is being made from firsthand experiences by people who care very very deeply who would be DELIGHTED to hear that it’s resonating with anybody at all, please throw some of that enthusiasm and support at people who will actually appreciate it

if you’re an indie comic person and any of this applies to you i encourage you to reblog this with a link to your comic and a short synopsis so people can browse the notes and find shit they’re looking for. or make your own post on your own blog if you don’t want to fool with other people i don’t care this is a sign from the universe that you should be louder about what you’re working on because people can’t fucking find it apparently.

i’ll go first i make kidd commander and it’s about an ensemble cast of queers on their way to kill god, they live on an airship and they’re all too pissed off to die. it’s free to read and it’s in the middle of its third arc right now. it lives here http://kiddcommander.com/

go go go

I recently started listening to Kosher Queers, a podcast with “at least two Jews and generally more than three opinions!” Both hosts are trans and queer, and they give their takes on the weekly Torah portions through this lens. Reoccurring segments include Rating G-d’s Writing, where they rate the parsha based on an arbitrarily designed scale, and Perchik Corner, where one of them gives a communist interpretation of the parsha. It’s very fun, and I highly recommend checking it out.

Paranoid psychosis tip that helps me!

This is an example of a grounding technique that I had to figure out because the common one (5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, etc.) one doesn’t personally work well when I am having a psychotic moment and cannot tell exactly what is real and what isn’t, so this is what I do!

Count all objects in room

Make a mental note of everyhting that is in the room you are in. Count them, point out where they are.

Describe every object in great detail

Tell yourself everything you notice about every object and say it out loud or in your head.

Ex. If you have a candle in front of you, make note of the color, shape, if it has any dried wax, if it is in a clear jar, etc. EVERY small detail you can. Move on to the next object until you identify EVERYTHING you can see. This way you know exactly what everything looks like and if it changes or not. (Something I struggle with is knowing if an object is really what I remember it exactly looking like).

Identify every noise you hear

What do you currently hear in the room you are in? Do you hear a fan? The AC? Wind? Try listening to these noises individually until you can find a source for each one, and then you can further identify ones you cannot find a source for. If these noises change, try finding the solution why they could have changed, this way you can know for sure if it is real or not.

Keep the lights on

Sometimes turning off the lights can make your vision worse, making it harder for your brain to process what you’re looking at. Often times, lots of people without related disorders can also mistake objects for other things in the dark, so sometimes it helps to see things as clear as possible rather than trying to hide it with darkness. Sleep with a sleep mask if necessary so you can take it off and see clearly at any time.

Try staying calm

I know this part is very difficult, but freaking out usually makes it worse and just creates more fear. Try breathing a deep breath, holding for 7 seconds, and breathe out for 8. Remind yourself that this episode will pass, you are safe. Reach out to a friend if needed, and practice further exercises that can help lower anxiety and your heart rate, even if it feels it isn’t helping at all.

I hope this post helped somebody! It might not help or work for everyone, but I hope it at least has some useful information for further reference! :)
