Dream where-in they really don't get monsters or people.
Lowkey, they're struggling every conversation. No matter how Dream was brought out into the wider multiverse, he doesn't get other monsters. For being a embodiment of emotions that, sometimes, feels ironic. But, Dream stumbles on his tones. They pull from the oldest and warmest memories to try and comfort someone, which, Dream can tell, somehow always sound like a rotting tree. One that, luckily for this tree, has constant sunshine and water and antibiotics forced into their roots, leaving it full of love.
Dream struggles to make connections, even in situations where their aura is limited. I think it eats him alive. No matter how genuine Dream feels, no matter what they offer, who they are, what he creates- its a facade. They feel like a try-hard. A big ol' disguise sitting in front of everything, and Dream can't remove it. But, hey, to look at the positive side, Dream keeps reminding themselves these monsters are left with smiles.
Truthfully, the one kindness Dream always could do and show were actions. Checking on someone in the morning, a picnic with friends, leaving flowers at graves, standing through red ants biting his arms inside a hug. So, yes, he does plan to check in with that one ruined world tomorrow. Yes, they also have tea planned at the store tomorrow. Ask to be worked into Dream's schedule? They will do their best to wedge you in!
Its utterly exhausting. And I imagine Dream wishes that it was easier to express anything through words. Maybe, they should have taken those lessons from Nightmare back in the day.
(Dream's never been able to be themselves, he's never been able to discover who he is as a person. Leading Dream to be what everyone else needs. Saying what they need to hear, doing what they need help with, listening to them when they are able, being what they need. An people pleaser to everybody but themselves, but thats okay, because everyone else is happy! He just needs to keep helping everyone, needs to keep being better every single day. Just, don't ask them who Dream is, he can't answer).
i finishee an artstyle/comic study(kinda) of ur art :D
i just wanted to show it :))

I absolutely ADORE the lil markings under Dream’s eyes eeeeeeee
This is so beautiful, hope you don’t mind me making a lil redraw of my fave panel <33333
Not me imagining a world now where Nightmare dies over and over and over. If it were to ever occur in an universe, how would it affect Nightmare? How might it affect the balance as a whole?
Would the corruption slowly vanish, eventually revealing Pass!Nightmare beneath it all? Like- give Passive some ability to think a little more and take control if hes still there? Then if thats the case, it brings the question of can Passive's form even survive without the corruption? But then begs the question if Passive is even there at all.
Or maybe Passive is the first soul, the first apple Dream kills when his arrow goes through Nightmare's apple(and what if the remains of Passive was important to NM's entire existence in some way. What if its needed to keep his form together? Do his powers change and he has to relearn them all over(like maybe the way he absorbs negativity and inflicts others with it? Maybe its more slow, laggy, like its a reluctant child. Can he be labeled a guardian in a Check without an part of Passive being there? Where does that leave NM? )
What if with every death Nightmare is now slowly falling apart, struggling more to keep himself together. Every day slogging atop his paths, form constantly getting stuck between the tiles, one hand fused together more similar to the tentacles on his back. In the absent room where his papers are allocated, no one would find him with a mouth(unnecessary to put power into when hes alone, unless there's a lovely drink left next to his books). With every life lost, Nightmare's body is falling apart, becoming more similar to the amalgamations from the lab than an skeleton.
Now how does DREAM react to this? Was the first death accidental? Or purposeful. He wanted to make the universe better, or he was just exhausted. Will he be less careful with his shots knowing NM can die as much as a human? Or will he pull his arrows totry and not kill NM? And saying he goes through with trying to take down NM, goes on the aggressive, and isn't afraid to strike at the soul of his corrupted brother. Would he feel good about seeing Nightmare fall apart or would he cry himself to sleep(he definitely cries himself to sleep)?
You could go even further- what side effects occur within the multiverse? NM would probably get more aggressive, but with ever apple killed, theres technically less negativity. Theres emotions that could be changed so Dream could more easily spread positivity. If NM is weaker with ever apple taken, then it would slowly get easier to fight him(NM's still like a cockroach about dying though). One could say theres a chance the universe could be balanced again, just at the exchange of making his once-brother suffer(I headcannon that making the multiverse perfectly balanced between positivity and negativity is nigh impossible with so many of the positivity apples being gone. I like to think its possible, but fr poor Dream will never get to sleep even if monsters want to be good and lean towards positivity naturally).
And AAAA isn't that such a interesting moral dilemma? Dream dissociating from it. Refusing to call NM by his name, and keeps blaming NM's behavior on the corruption. Imagine he makes a(or another) grave for the memory of his lost brother so he can move on and help make the world a better place. Maybe they'd reach a truce call before NM dies(I don't think NM would let himself get close. The truce is to buy time I'd bet, and Dream knows it too. But its nice to not have to fight everyday, it gives Dream more time to scrub down all his weapons with bleach and longer rests on a couch). Just dealing with it day by day, at some point not counting how many tally marks are beneath the banner on his wall, just marking down another everytime he comes home with blood on his hands(because he'd be a fool to not at least keep track. He can't bring himself to ask Blue or Core to do that, then Ink would just forget).
Then how much of themselves would be lost in the process?! They're already traumatized to the stars and back, this adds another layer to it all. Could this be something they can heal from or might it only end in tragedy if Dream decision falls upon landing a bullseye in an apple for the next decade of his life? This is NOT going to end well for them ever lmao
Dream ate 1 golden apple that became his soul, Nightmare ate 999 black apples, now he has 999 souls
Yes, Nightmare has 999 lives like a spiteful angry lil cat
Me screaming about it on discord vhvjvjuv
Eldritch Horror my beloved. The Entity is the best thing. I love this boulder. It tis <3
Ayo New SCP just dropped HOW DO THE TW WORK ON TUMBLR I DON T WANT PROBLEMS ;-;
/rp
I was pacing and thinking about Techno's speech and about Thesues, and how he said “So you want to be a hero Tommy?” He said want. And that sparked my interest. Which then redeemed this rant on Tommy’s character. ( I’m new to this please be nice to me. This was just a ramble I did on a discord in a #lore channel. This includes a few of the concepts we’ve came together with on the discord and that have been developed, Dream’s character being a big reason. )
He's the only character on the SMP with black and white views. Everyone else has some form of gray in their choices, can acknowledge they messed up from people around them. The only people I see relating to Tommy's views closely are Schaltt and Dream. Schaltt never admitted he was good, never admitted he was bad either. But he desired power. And everyone left him. Everyone hated him. He was left alone and in his final moments acknowledged he was in the bad. Saw that he was the bad guy to everyone.
Dream once held a large part of Tommy's views. Dream wanted to be the hero. He wants a era of peace, he wants a Dystopia. A group of people aligned under laws intended to create peace, but in the end will cause chaos. Maybe not terribly bad laws, but enough to hold peace as he cares for those within his kingdom. He cares for justice and will enforce the laws, no matter what it takes. He wants a land of peace. A land where friends can all be "one big happy family." Dream realized that promoting peace, promoting pacifist ideals wouldn't achieve those desires. First he offered peace to L'manburg, and when they denied to raise the white flags? Second, he attacked. He was enforcing the law and believing he was enforcing peace within his nation, when all he was brewing was war. He saw himself as the good guy. The leader trying to create peace for his nation. Then this desire became impossible with Tommy. Dream always took brash actions to get what he desired, - take banning Tommy on his first day due to the chaos he brought to the server, or exploding L’manburg, - he takes the steps he needs to enforce the peace, believing he's the hero all along the way. Tommy existing has created chaos. Ruined peace. L'manburg disrupted his peace. Wilbur was apart of this chaos, and Dream got rid of him. Dream is willing to become the bad guy to protect his nation and help bring it to peace, even if that means he needs to become the villain in everyone's eyes. ( Or he got corrupted by chaos and power. ) "You either die a hero, or live long enough to become the villain." He tried to be the hero, - possibly still tries to be the hero, - and became the bad guy. ( This was heavily iffy. Learning new things about Dream's character after writing some more. )
Tommy tries to be the hero.
Tommy has his black and white views. No matter what - Tommy is always in the right. ( When we are reading a story, there's our protagonist and antagonist. Usually our protagonist, - Tommy, - is in the morally right. ) Spite him stealing and griefing others houses, blowing them up and teasing others. Being blatantly rude, even towards his friends at times. Doesn't listen to orders and goes against them, is brash and quickly jumps to fighting. ( How much of this is morally good? ) Tommy's always in the right. He's the hero in his own story no matter how bad he is. He'll never admit he's in the wrong. He can't admit the such. Look at what happened to Wilbur? What if I became the same? Went insane and died? I promised to not be Wilbur- I refuse to be Wilbur.
Tommy tried to be the hero, and did good things! ( Theseus tried to be the hero, and did good slaying the Minotaur. ) Tommy had to be good. No matter what. He'll never see himself as the villain, he’ll never be a bad guy, never be the villain. No one else believes there is a hero. No one else has the purely black and white views. Only Tommy does. Tommy is the hero. He's the only option - the only person who can truly fit being the hero. He's the only one who truly believes there's a hero.
"So you want to be the hero Tommy? Then die like one!"
Or all Life Series Scar's respawn in Scar's Frontier Outpost- or or, oh god all 5 Scar's are stuck together.
All throughout s4 Scar mentions something-something that Scar's Frontier Outpost is "a place for all Scar's to go!" This au is that, but Scar's Frontier Outpost is quite literal in its description. All Scar's that have died go there to rest. And happen to meet some of the other universe's version of themselves in death.
3rd!Scar waking up completely alone as the first, only with the cats to accompany him as he slowly wanders through this very not well lit up town. Only gaping at the TERRIBLE train track construction. Even if he is no expert a train track should not have a 90 degree turn! Of course half shirtless with a cat on his shoulder, or well guiding him. The place is abandoned to his eyes and- well. He's dead isn't he? Passed when Grian murdered him in the cactus ring, so this is his afterlife...
Its nicer than he had imagined it to be.
Then one day months and months later, there's a silly wizard in his bed with green, depressed eyes. And as he stares into a mirror, this replica-Scar sits up slowly, hands shaking with winces and the biggest frown ever. Looking towards the other Scar, his voice cracks during the sentence, "am I dead?" 3rd!Scar only does a quick nod, because while he assumed this is the afterlife, why would the afterlife have multiple versions of himself? He shrugs it off, probably better not to question it. It'll be nice to have some company.
Meanwhile LL!Scar is pulling his hoodie over his head and trying his best to be small and hide away. Because he was unrightfully- totally rightfully, it was a death game. A death game he did not sign up for- murdered. And now he's dead and seeing other versions of himself. It'd be a shock to anyone's system truly, and LL!Scar stares blindly as 3rd!Scar goes on a long babble, sitting down and petting one of the cats with a smile as he talks all about the local train in the area. A week later, the two have settled in and just exist. Because they're dead now and all they can really do is make the world more pretty.
This repeats for each one. After DL 3rd!Scar stops sleeping in the bed they keep spawning in, changing that room out to be more welcoming in a sense. After the mess that is DL, the one who somehow stays farther away from the "group" than LL did, the two give little concerned glances and raises of the eyebrow. That room has a big banner over the door reading "WELCOME TO SCARS FRONTEIR OUTPOST(AKA YOUR DEAD)", streamers hanging from the ceiling, and a red carpet added to the bottom. The entire room is restructured, and they add a chest full of essential items and a little note reading, "DISCONT FOR ONE SANDWICH!" and on the back it read all horribly scribbled out, "if youd like one more glorius sandwich, that will cost you one shoe!" DL got scammed through this, the two longer dead Scar's putting on smiles and demanding two diamonds for the amazing tour they gave the other. And somehow DL couldn't help the laugh that crackled from his chest, the others couldn't stop their snickers either.
SL and LL get along well, but either refuse to acknowledge why or talk about their past. Just when the other appears they connect.
LiL!Scar being like the youngest child. Definitely does the most pranks and gets along like a fire with everyone, but 3rd!Scar encourages his chaos. These two have definitely set off fireworks for fun on the anniversaries of their own deaths(LiL starting this tradition because he simply can. Bdubs and Cleo would've loved to see the pretty lights).
DL being the dramatic middle child... somewhere in there. He ends up being the most reserved even when LiL arrives. He's scared of making many connections and accepts his cats as his soulmates and his only friends. Said cats are also how the other two bring DL out of his shell. Making tons of the toys for the kitters and bonding over their equal love of the little guys.
They all deserve a little happiness in their endings somehow! A nice afterlife where they can thrive together and enjoy some bits of it after realizing they all aren't out to get each other, they're simply just... dead. Now all they have are the alternate universe also dead versions of themselves(this being pointed out over a campfire would make them snort).
im fighting artblock by just drawing the fucking bird man. it works.
After two years I think it's finally time to use my drawing tablet again, because my ipad literally tried to delete everything I drew for this
oh my gosh we're cat twins
I need to see cute pics of cats or I’ll explode
I like to give Dream an MP3 player. It's a little yellow one, some scratches, probably the most off-color yellow you'd be able to get. Any solemn minute, locked away in his own little world, Dream turns it on. Music very quickly became his singular way of coping with the entire situation that is his life after getting the device.
Some years back Dream received it as a gift. They had some pre-downloaded songs, but really wanted to say thank you- Dream saved their families lives from Nightmare. They'd outgrown this little thing, perhaps it'd be loved by another. Dream, knowing full well the little spout of smiles they'd feel, accepts the gift. Every new world Dream travels too the thought of getting to add more music makes him pause, spending a little more time in each one to discover artists(not ever going to a live performance, the thought of doing so always leaving Dream a little choked up). Over the years, Dream gets a few more from the few friends he's able to create, never getting himself another device. There's not many, maybe a max of 3 mp3 players before an method to significantly increase the amount of storage space is created(once Dream finds that he doesn't think before buying it. Soon enough, its connected to the little off-yellow player).
Definitely he to listens to every type of music, finding something interesting in every genre, but indie rock just happens to be the most he has saved(if you asked Dream what his favorite genre was, he wouldn't be able to answer). He uses the other mp3 players to save entire albums he enjoys, then deciding what song to listen to in his down time became stressful and the shuffle button on his mp3 has started turning gray much to his dismay. Some songs hit too close to home, and for many years he quietly saved those onto the player. No, it'll never be seen or known by another person. Unless Dream let you know him, you'd never know he listens to music as much as he does.
Overtime, I think, Blue would eventually get a sticker on one of them. Dream isn't entirely sure how he feels about it, but the sticker is glowing like a bright star. It certainly isn't being taken off anytime soon
