every morning i wake up and make the worst possible time management decisions anyone has ever made
another heavy handed symbolism moment: my mom has a potted sunflower in the kitchen. because it is a sunflower, it keeps turning towards the light from the window. my mother keeps rotating it so it faces inward because she wants "to see its beautiful petals and have it really brighten up the space!" . the sunflower is visibly wilting .
The fact that the Duffers so easily could’ve given Max a one dimensional plot where her guilt this season surrounding Billy was over feeling like she misjudged him since he sacrificed himself in the end, or wishing they had the time to repair their relationship, but it wasn’t. It was about her being glad that he was gone, because his one moment of sacrifice didn’t make up for his abusive and racist behavior.
And then, they did the same with El. Brenner tried to save her and was asking for forgiveness, or at the very least understanding from her on why he did what he did. But El didn’t give that to him. She let him die knowing that his actions were inexcusable.
It lowkey makes me emotional, because we almost never see women/girls in media be allowed to say, what happened to me wasn’t okay—what you did to me wasn’t okay—and even if I can’t help my empathy, I will never offer it to you as absolution.
It makes me angry how cute the baby seal is. Absolutely furious and shaking with rage.

Death Parade, Episode 11 - Memento Mori Music: Moonlit Night - Yuki Haiashi
Death Parade was a bit uneven as a show but had incredibly powerful episodes that went straight under your skin. This scene was a masterpiece but it had many of those. The stand alone episode Death Billiard is a good starting point. The show is no longer on Netflix as far as I can tell but I think it is on Crunchyroll and can also be bought on Amazon.

something that gets me the most about max’s death scene is just. god lucas looks so much like a kid in that scene. and obviously yes, i know they’re ALL just kids, but this season especially it was harder to remember because the actors are all adults now. but seeing lucas holding max in his arms, begging erica for help and crying it’s just. he looks like such a kid. and so does she. and it’s so fucking heartbreaking

Can I just say that it makes me feel icky that the twn fandom portrays Geralt and the other witchers as uncultured, uneducated cavemen who never wash themselves. Himbo trope and memes aside, witchers are smart as hell, they are educated - they know alchemy, basic magic, human and monster biology, geography and much more. They need all that knowledge to survive, education is a huge part of their job. Just because they’re not familiar with every culture and customs in the world, (which is understandable, because they never stay in one place for too long) doesn’t mean they’re stupid. From a young age, they’re taught to keep their emotions in check, go through very traumatic things as part of their training, so yeah, they’re a little awkward around people and they grew up isolated from the world, so their manners might be lacking a little. That still doesn’t mean they’re some kind of uncultured cavemen. They developed their own culture, but are generally open-minded, so they don’t mind learning about other cultures or religions. I’d say they’re more educated than some home-schooled posh bastard, because they’re well-travelled and keep learning new things on The Path. The twn fandom does witchers a huge disservice.

"Jaskier teaches the Witchers how to accept affection and soft touches" headcanons are so 2020, and they always paint the Witchers as inept, uncivilised or animalistic. Silly, stupid Witcher can't do the most basic, human thing, and that is to show love. It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth and I wish it was relegated to early naïve fandom where it belongs.
How about the Witchers showing Jaskier what real love looks like - platonic and romantic? Jaskier has a superficial understanding built from fantasy, yet it's still somehow chained to the requirements of his society and background. Jaskier doesn't know how to love in any way other than how his society has taught him is acceptable, and he leaves broken hearts in his wake because he can't even do that bit right.
I think it's time to explore how Witchers know damn well how to express affection between themselves, but humans are just a whole different ball game. Humans are unreliable, flighty, mired in politics and societal prejudices that Witchers simply Do Not have space for. Witchers know the meaning of love and they know the meaning of loss, which makes their love for each other all the more powerful.
I'm going to love you even though I know I could lose you tomorrow, because life is short, and cruel, and you're a light in the darkness.
Geralt, Eskel and Lambert embrace readily. They express fondness for each other. They rough house, drink and laugh. Depending on what you ship, it's plausible their first intimate experiences were with each other. Because who else are you going to explore that with in a deadly military boot camp where you're treated as less than dirt? Where there's every likelihood that the only soft touch you get is a forehead bonk under threadbare covers?
They all have a complex relationship with Vesemir, but the foundation? It's love. Be that fatherly, or as a mentor, or respect as a fellow Witcher.
Witchers know how to love. They love fiercely, readily, and in their own way. But you have to earn it.

it’s why lambert gets away with so much. the older ones are just fucking hard-wired for it, and it’s SO ANNOYING. WHY ARE THEY GIVING HIM THEIR EXTRA DESSERT WHEN HE WAS A DICK TODAY. HE DOESN’T DESERVE IT. WHY ARE THEY HANDING IT OVER.
it also means ciri could quite literally get away with fucking ANYTHING. the true threat isn’t her powers. the true threat is the force of her puppy eyes.
