The boys had just gotten to the local bar that was nearly a mile away from the apartment. You had a rough day at work and didn't want to leave the comforts of the apartments. You had insisted the boys still go out without you though of course Bucky objected but was dragged out anyway.

You started running yourself a bath letting it run while you reheated whatever leftover you could find in the fridge which was very limited with three boys in the apartment.

Leaning over the kitchen counter as you slowly stuff your mouth with the slightly cold food from the plastic container. Dumping half of it into the trash before proceeding to the bathroom, starting to strip yourself of your work scrubs discarding your top to the ground leaving you in your bra and your athletic shorts you usually wear under your scrubs.

The front door opening loudly caused you to jump back, peaking your head out the door, calling out for one of them.

The loud stomps are getting closer and closer to you. You realize it's not them.

The boys were just leaving and headed home, when Bucky's phone started ringing.

His phone displays your name in bolded letters across his screen. When he answered ,your voice was shaky and sounded like you were out of breath like you were trying to stay quiet.

“y/n?” he says his brows pinched in confusion, that you had called him.

“B’, there's someone in the apartment” you whisper the tears threatening to spill over.

He can hear the loud bangs from your side of the phone before it goes quiet.

“ y/n?” no answer “ y/n!” he calls out again.

The car comes to a halt, the New York rush coming at its favored time, Steve finds a place to pull off, Bucky gets out of the car running into the direction of the apartments. Sam and Steve followed suit.

After running for over ten minutes they reached at least the block of the apartment, the sirens and flashing lights from the ambulance and police cars lighting up the entire road.

Bucky's legs seemed to carry him fast at the sight.

Reaching the caution tape lining the entrance and all the neighbors standing outside.

Bucky's eyes frantically looked around for you, finding nothing.

Ducking under the caution tape, multiple officers rushing over.

“ Sir behind the tape” they urge, pushing him back toward the yellow tape.

“ no this is my apartments my roommate was in there”

A few of your neighbors confirm that he had lived here letting their grip on him go, Bucky ventures further into the circle of ambulances.

His eyes finally find you, your body soaking wet as you shiver in the cold air, your knees pressed to your chest as you sit on the edge of the ambulance's doors, your lips nearly blue.

“ Y/N!” he calls out before running to you.

You look up from the ground, your eyes meeting him as you shove off the blanket from your shoulders discarding it to the ground, sprinting towards him the tears finally slipping as you are now just realizing what had just happened.

Your body smashes into his wrapping your arms around his shoulders, his grip around your waist as your feet depart from the ground. Your face buried into the crevice of his neck sobbing as you feel the comfort of his embrace, his lips pressing to your temple.

“You’re safe now, I’m here.” he soothes, his hand smoothing your wet hair behind your ear.

Steve and Sam were finally let through the yellow caution tape scurrying to you.

“ Barnes can I talk to you?” Leslie asks , Leslie is your coworker that was working on the scene and your best friend. " She's gonna have some mild PTSD, she was almost killed, so just make sure she's okay and maybe don't let her sleep by herself tonight. make sure she feels safe please"

" What do you mean almost killed?" he questions.

"did they not tell you what happened?" she says with wide eyes, he shook his head " the man tried to drown her-"

Bucky joins back with you, your side pressed against him as his hand runs up your arms keeping you warm as the cold air leaves small bumps scattering across your skin.

Once they finally let you back into the apartment the boys decided that they didn’t want you to sleep alone for the night, so instead they brought out all the pillows and blankets they could find and stuffed them onto the couch.

You slept on the long side of the couch Sam and Bucky took the floor and Steve slept on the other side. The only light emitting into the room was the light from the tv.

you lay on the couch facing the cushion you body rising and falling as you breath, you were terrified to close your eyes.

You flip to your other side laying your hand over the edge reaching for Bucky’s hand laying on his stomach.

He’s eyes slowly open to look at you, that pad of his thumb running against the back of your hand.

“ Can I come lay with you?” You ask in a soft whisper leaning over the edge.

“ yeah” he replies, scooting over on the floor giving you a space between him and the couch. patting the empty spot next to him.

you slowly lower yourself into the spot laying your head against his shoulder and chest you body relaxing into his side.

you knew you were safe with the three hulking men that laid near you but you still felt uneasy, but strange enough a near death experience can do that.

He was about to turn back towards the Chateau when he spotted JJ fishing in his pocket.

“No, nope, give it here,” he ordered, and JJ looked up in confusion.

“What are you talking about?”

“The phone. I know what you’re doing. No girlfriends tonight,” he held his hand out.

“I wasn’t even gonna message her!” JJ defended, lying through his teeth, ignoring the sarcastic look Pope was throwing his way.

“JJ. You do this every boys night and we don’t wanna listen to you two tell each other how in love you are for the next hour. You traumatised Pope last time.”

“I never wanna hear the word ‘daddy’ come out of that woman’s mouth again,” Pope muttered, and JJ just smirked at him.

“Speak for yourself,” he winked, and Pope pretended to gag over the side of his chair.

“JJ, no.” Pope groaned.

“JJ, yes,” he grinned back.

“JJ. No.” John B cut in, holding his hand out again.

“What if there’s an emergency?”

“What kind of emergency?”

JJ shrugged, smug look overtaking his features.

“A dick emergency.”

“JJ, phone!”

“Jeeeeez, fine,” JJ held his hands up before reaching into his pocket and handing his phone over to John B who slid it into his shorts before heading inside.

“I just wanna say that I think this is very unfair,” JJ complained to Pope, who raised an eyebrow at his blonde friend.

“Distance is healthy, man. You’re whipped.”

“Of course I’m whipped. Have you seen my girl?” JJ defended, and Pope just smiled and shook his head, knowing there was no derailing JJ when it came to his favourite topic - you.

“Okay, I’m gonna go to the bathroom before you start in on the wedding plans,” Pope stood up and stretched before heading in after John B, leaving JJ by the fire brooding.

When they finally came back outside together, John B spotted the sheepish look on JJ’s face.

Pope was in the middle of a fierce defence of Midsommer when John B heard his own phone buzz from the floor beside him. He picked it up eagerly, hoping it was Sarah (yeah, he was a hypocrite, sue him).

Instead, your name flashed across his screen, and he frowned, opening the text. He was halfway through the message when he spat his beer out, spraying half of it on Pope.

“What the fuck, John B?” He startled, jumping up.
