RP tidbit I did for Mother's Day :3

Tim deftly climbed the fence of the dark graveyard, it being devoid of any other living soul, at least, as far as he could tell. He made his way to the place he'd visited the past few Mother's Days, a grave that lost the one soul that would honor her on the holiday. He hoped he wasn't crossing some unknown boundary, though it was a bit late for such thoughts now. He laid the delicate bouquet of yellow lilies and white orchids at the headstone. Bowing his head in respect to the woman his hero had held so dearly.

"Happy Mother's Day, Miss Catherine."

DAMN OKAY OW

Tim almost never sees Bruce Wayne. He sees Batman—the shadow in the cave, the cowl, the voice that barks orders land expected to be listened to. Bruce thinks he’s protecting him this way. If he denies a connection, if he refuses to name Tim as his, then maybe the world won’t carve into him the way it carved into Jason.

As if distance could soften a grave.

But the mimicry—that kills him.

Tim can do it perfectly: Jason’s loose-shouldered swagger, his posture, his walk, the way he’d laugh like Gotham's rare sunny days, the lopsided grin that made even Batman’s mouth twitch in response.

Tim practices in the mirror sometimes, just to see the ghost. Just to feel, for a second, like he isn’t standing in a dead boy’s shoes. But he was and now he was taking his face.

And when he gets it just right—when he throws out a joke in that tone, when he tilts his head that way, when he made Batman falter. Tim would melt.

For a heartbeat, the Batman was gone. In the place of the cold unchanging hero was Bruce Wayne, raw and wounded, looking at him like he’s something precious. Like he’s worth holding gently. Like he wasn't a soldier or a replacement. Like he was actually Jason. Tim sees it—the Bruce that Jason must have known, the one Dick still sometimes searches for in the rubble of their family. The one left to rot in the same warehouse Jason died in. The father smiled warmly as his kid, asked about their day, held them, praised them. God did Tim savor being held like he mattered.

Then Bruce would blink, and the moment shatters and Batman returns. Tim is let go and he has to fight himself not to hold on because he wanted this. Gods we wanted this. Ironic that that was particularly why Tim had originally started stalking the bats. Ironic that their closeness and family bond was something he was excluded from even when he was 'part of the family'.

He wonders, sometimes, if Bruce even realizes he’s doing it. If he knows how quickly he pulls away, how deliberately he rebuilds the walls between them the second he remembers who Tim is. Or rather, who he isn’t.

Tim doesn’t blame him.

He knows what he is.

A placeholder. A contingency. A shadow of a ghost.

And maybe that’s all he’ll ever be.

Tim swallows the phantom warmth like a thief. He knows it isn’t for him. Warmth wasn't for Drakes. Mother used to tell him they werelrelated to ice dragons. That was why they weren't affectionate. Affection was too warm for the Drake Family.

Tim wanted to be warm...

Naruto is a very Foolish child. Clumsy, loud, weak. Harmless.

Sasuke is a very Clingy child. Dependent, weak, slow. Naive.

Sakura is a very Timid child. Quiet, soft, calm. A Civilian Girl.

Naruto is a very Clever child. Careful, intentional, hidden. Safe.

Sasuke is a very Observant child. Watchful, curious, concerned. Loved.

Sakura is a very Cunning child. Collected, calculating, stubborn. Strong.

Naruto is Clever and so pretends to be Foolish. The villagers fear Him for faults not his own, so he is Careful what he shows them. He pretends to be Clumsy, is Intentionally Louder than he should be for a Shinobi, and fakes being Weak. They must think him Harmless, because if he is Harmless he is Safe.

Sasuke is Observant and so pretends to be Clingy. Itachi is worried for him, so he acts Dependent. Itachi does things he does not believe in for Sasuke's sake, so he acts Weak and Slow. Horrible traits for a potential Uchiha Heir, this means Itachi can still openly love him. Sasuke is Watchful of his brother and is Concerned for him as he goes against himself for their Family. Sasuke is Curious about many things, but not what would happen to Itachi if Sasuke were to be viable for Heir. As long as Sasuke is believed to be Naive, Itachi is Safe.

Sakura is Cunning but is mistaken as Timid. Sakura is not as outwardly Stubborn as her mother and as such is mistaken for being Soft. Sakura's temper is not quite as bad as Ino’s so she is labeled as being Calm. Sakura has been told she's quite Quiet when in fact she is simply Collected. She knows she is more Calculating than most her age, and tries not to show interest in the life of a Shinobi. Her family is that of civilians and their reputation is important to them. So as much as she wishes she could become that Strong, she must remain no more than A Civilian Girl, and live a boring life. She must remain Safe.

This is an AU where Jason never dies. Bruce doesn't accuse him of murder and he's there to meet Sheila and in time to save Jay from Joker. Jason doesn't continue being Robin and instead goes by BlueBird. (Au board for him later) While Jason is recovering, Joker & Harley kidnap Tim and JJ happens. B & Babs never found out who the kid was and Tim's parents didn't notice anything happened. A few years later the Drake's trade Tim to Ra’s for him hiding them after they ran from the police for tax evasion. Ra’s goes “Free Heir!!” and raises Tim. Damien is Tim's little brother once he is born. The official story for where Tim Drake is is that he's staying overseas with Jack's estranged half-brother after his parents died. Tim comes back to Gotham at 16 to take over at Drake Industries and reintegrate into High Society. Wraith is an informant mostly, though they famously hate and beat up or k*ll ab*sers and tr***ckers. They understand but don't adhere to the no-kill rule. Wraith interacts with BlueBird the most out of the Bats.
